Abstract: A stroke scale system includes a patient support apparatus having one or more pressure sensors that can be grasped by a patient, one or more motion detectors that detect movements of the patient, a display unit, an audio unit; and a controller. The stroke scale system performs a series of stroke scale examinations. At least one stroke scale examination instructs the patient to grasp a portion of the patient support apparatus, and the pressure sensors determine compliance with the instructions by measuring an applied pressure to the portion of the patient support apparatus. The stroke scale system calculates a stroke scale score by combining scores determined from the series of stroke scale examinations.

Abstract: A biological monitoring device, including a housing and a distance sensor in connection with the housing, where the distance sensor is configured to emit an electromagnetic wave into a local environment and to sense the electromagnetic wave reflected off an object in the local environment and within a detection field of the distance sensor. A controller is communicatively in connection with the distance sensor. The controller is configured to control the distance sensor to emit the electromagnetic wave, detect a change in distance between the biological monitoring device and the object based on the electromagnetic wave emitted by the distance sensor, and determine a rate of a periodic biological movement based on the change of distance.

Abstract: A patient monitoring device initiates an interval mode that includes measuring blood pressure at predetermined intervals over a predetermined period of time. The device takes a first blood pressure measurement at one of the predetermined intervals, and determines whether the first blood pressure measurement is abnormal. The device takes a second blood pressure measurement after a predetermined delay when the first blood pressure measurement is determined abnormal. The device compares the first and second blood pressure measurements to confirm whether the first blood pressure measurement is abnormal. The device triggers an alarm when the first blood pressure measurement is confirmed as abnormal.

Abstract: A device for monitoring a patient displays a nuisance button on a display device, receives clinician feedback from a selection of the nuisance button, and pauses an active alarm in response to the clinician feedback. The device identifies one or more alarm settings responsible for the clinician feedback and adjusts the one or more alarm settings based on the clinician feedback. The device records the clinician feedback in a device usage log for monitoring usage of the nuisance button. The device generates an alarm notification based on the active alarm, and classifies the alarm notification into a first group in which the alarm notification is a push notification or a second group in which the alarm notification is a pull notification.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for detecting a fluid infiltration event. A system includes a fluid delivery cannula having a distal end and a proximal end, a fluid source fluidly coupled to the proximal end of the fluid delivery cannula, and an optical sensor optically coupled to an interior of the fluid delivery cannula. The optical sensor is disposed between the distal end and the proximal end of the fluid delivery cannula and configured to generate an electronic signal based on one or more characteristics of light sensed in the interior of the fluid delivery cannula when fluid from the fluid source is passed therethrough. The system further includes a controller configured to receive the electronic signal from the optical sensor and determine a fluid infiltration event based on the electronic signal.
