摘要: Systems and methods for providing respiratory therapy are disclosed. The system includes a nebulizer operable to aerosolize a medicament, a cylindrical mixing chamber, an impacting cap and a recirculation tube. The mixing chamber has an inlet port, an outlet port, an aerosol port in fluid communication with the nebulizer, and a drainage port. The inlet port receives a flow of breathing gas. The mixing chamber receives the aerosol via the aerosol port, entrains aerosol into the flow of breathing gas, and delivers the breathing gas entrained with aerosol to the outlet port. The impacting cap receives and coalesces a portion of the aerosol into droplets within the space defined by the mixing chamber and the impacting cap. The mixing chamber is also configured to direct rain-out resulting from the droplets to the drainage port. The system also includes a recirculation tube to return the rain-out to the nebulizer.

摘要: Devices and methods for providing respiratory therapy are disclosed. One device includes a first lumen, a second lumen, and a bridge with at least one opening. The first lumen has a first inlet end to receive a first flow of breathing gas, a first outlet end to deliver the first flow, and a first bend between the first inlet end and the first outlet end. The second lumen has a second inlet end to receive a second flow of breathing gas, a second outlet end to deliver the second flow, and a second bend between the second inlet end and the second outlet end. The bridge separates the first lumen and the second lumen, attaches to the first lumen at the first bend and the second lumen at the second bend, and is configured to maintain the first flow of breathing gas separate from the second flow of breathing gas.

摘要: Provided herein are devices, systems, and methods for introducing a nebulized medication into breathing gas for respiratory therapy. An apparatus includes a reservoir to contain a volume of medication, a vibrating mesh disposed at a reservoir outlet of the reservoir to receive a flow of the medication from the reservoir and output a flow of nebulized medication, a mixing chamber having a gas inlet to receive a flow of breathing gas from a gas source, and a nebulizer inlet to receive the flow of nebulized medication from the vibrating mesh, where the vibrating mesh is disposed between the nebulizer inlet and the reservoir outlet. The apparatus can include a pressure tap tube or other implement in fluid communication with the mixing chamber and the reservoir to selectively equalize pressure between the mixing chamber and a headspace in the reservoir above the volume of medication.

摘要: The systems, devices, and methods described herein relate to providing breathing gas at a high velocity to a patient using a base unit and an auxiliary unit configured to be removably disposed on or at least partially in the base unit. The base unit has several couplings for improved control and sensing of the auxiliary unit and its components, wherein the couplings are configured to be non-contact with the corresponding components of the auxiliary unit and/or otherwise configured to minimize operational defects or improve efficiency. Non-contact couplings include induction heating, capacitive level sensing, a magnetically coupled rotor pump. RFID tag and reader, and Hall effect sensing. The breathing gas can be provided at high velocities by setting breathing gas flowrates based on dimensions of a nasal cannula used to direct the breathing gas into a patient's nares.

摘要: There is provided a rotatable impeller assembly for pumping caustic fluid byproducts in a medical device. The assembly comprises a rotor having a rotor cup, and an impeller having a rotor contacting surface and impeller blades. The assembly further comprises a magnetic ring seated within the cup. The magnetic ring comprises a first contact surface that is configured to mate with an inner surface of the cup, and a second contact surface that is configured to mate with the rotor contacting surface of the impeller. In such an arrangement, the magnetic ring is locked in position by the rotor cup and the impeller, thereby preventing any independent rotation of the magnetic ring relative to the rotor and the impeller while automatically balancing the rotor. Further, the rotor contacting surface of the impeller is attached to the cup to hermetically seal the magnetic ring within the impeller assembly.
