In order to preclude resistance of entrained fine particles to collection within electrical precipitator means, there is a conditioning of the particles carried in the flue gas stream by having vaporized and decomposed H2SO4 condensed and adsorbed on the particles themselves. Sulfuric acid is mixed and vaporized with a hot gaseous stream at a temperature above 400* F. and then the resulting hot stream with decomposed H2SO4 is introduced uniformly into the flue gas stream at a zone ahead of the precipitator unit so that the acid can reform and condense on the particles.
