摘要: There is provided such a shape of a light-guiding body that can guide light emitted from a LED while reflecting such light under conditions which satisfy total reflection as much as possible within the light-guiding body, to thereby improve the light intensity on the surface of a document in the shorter axial direction (i.e., the sub-scanning direction), and also, the light-guiding body has such an optimized shape of a light-incoming face that makes it possible to control the angle of light fluxes in the longer axial direction (i.e., the main scanning direction) to thereby illuminate the surface of the document with light having an uniform intensity distribution. Further, a reflecting member is provided at a position opposite the light outgoing face of the light-guiding body so as to improve the efficiency of illuminating an objective image-reading region on the surface of the document.

摘要: Interpolation data for a missing pixel are obtained (4) after a correction (3) for variations in the characteristics of the imaging devices (8(1), 8(2)). The correction for variations in characteristics includes, for example, a black level correction (9) and a sensitivity correction (10). The interpolation includes, for example, interpolation calculations (14(1), 14(2)) such that a mean value of a plurality of pixels including the missing pixel and a mean value of a plurality of pixels not including the missing pixel become equal and an interpolation calculation (14(0)) that takes the mean of the pixels to the right and left of the missing pixel, the calculation with the least error being selected (13, 15). Thus missing pixels in highly periodic images can be properly interpolated, and interpolation can be performed with high precision even when there are variations in the sensitivity characteristics of the individual imaging devices constituting the contact image sensor.

摘要: For image data of each display cell, correction is performed with data from a correction memory and stored in an image memory. A sequencer sends a signal regarding a display pulse within one frame to a sequence counter, which the sequence counter counts. A value corresponding to the count value is read out from a look up table, and a comparator compares the image data for one display cell from the image memory with a value (number of discharges or value corresponding to brightness) regarding the display pulse converted from the lookup table. When the value from the lookup table reaches the value of the image data, the display data is changed so as to control the state of discharge (such as to stop the discharge). The number of discharges corresponding to the image data is controlled by the contents of the lookup table so that the brightness can be controlled and correction is easily performed.

摘要: A display panel includes a resin lens layer. The display panel consists of a front panel 10 and a back panel 12 which are hermetically sealed together. The display panel also includes a plurality of display cells and is filled with a gas. A visible-light transparent resin is coated over the front surface of the front panel 10. The resin layer is raise-molded with a molding tool 16 while being solidified. Through this molding process, a resin lens layer 14 with plural lenses is formed on the front surface of the front panel 10. The resin lens layer 14 formed on the front surface of the front panel 10 can improve the brightness of the display cells.

摘要: A light guide propagates light emitted by a light source in the long axis direction. A fluorescent material layer surrounds the outer periphery of the light guide except for an opening along the long axis direction. A light reflecting pattern is provided on the outer periphery of the light guide opposite to the fluorescent material layer. The fluorescent material layer captures light reflected by the light reflecting pattern and exiting from the outer periphery of the light guide, reflects part of the light, and emits light of different wavelengths. The light emitted by the fluorescent material layer is transmitted into the light guide, and the light having entered therein from the end and the light emitted by the fluorescent material layer are emitted to the object from a portion of the light guide that is exposed in the opening.

摘要: A common electrode and an individual electrode are provided in plural pairs on a first transparent substrate, and recesses are formed in a second substrate in positions corresponding to the pairs of electrodes to define discharge cells of display cells. The display cells of a display panel can be individually driven on the cell-by-cell basis and the planar panel has a reduced thickness. A driving circuit for changing luminance in accordance with the number of pulses applied to the individual electrode within a unit time to make gradation display is provided, and gradation control is achieved by performing switching control for each of the individual electrodes provided independently of one another in one-to-one relation to the display cells. A voltage pulse is applied to the individual electrode to reverse the polarity of wall charges accumulated on a dielectric layer, and a voltage pulse is then applied to the common electrode so that an electric field of the wall charges caused upon the reversal of the polarity is additionally applied. Thereby provided are a planar display panel which can set a large control margin in the display operation, ensure stable display, and present gradation display with high reliability and quality, as well as a manufacturing method, a controller, and a driving method for the planar display panel.

摘要: In a cell drive-type flat display panel, a metal electrode pad 26 and common signal line 24 are disposed outside the area (effective area) facing a recessed portion forming a cell. The individual cell electrode 20 acting as a cell electrode within the effective area is connected to a metal electrode pad 26 by extending each cell electrode to the metal electrode pad 26, while the metal electrode is not extended toward the effective area to cover each cell electrode. A common electrode 22 is connected to the common signal line 24 by extending each cell electrode to the metal electrode pad 26, while the metal electrode is not extended toward the effective area and to cover each cell electrode. This structure makes the cell electrodes flat and can reduce the drive voltage from the effect resulting from the suppressed dielectric film. The metal electrode pad 26 has a top surface on which a pin electrode is posted. The dielectric layer has an opening from which the metal electrode pad 26 is exposed, and covers the edges of the metal electrode pad 26. This structure can prevent the transparent electrode layer bridging the individual electrode 20 with the metal electrode pad 26 from making contact with the dielectric layer or frit with high reactivity.

摘要: There is provided a scanning line interpolation device which is capable of providing an interpolated image with increased reproducibility of vertical high-frequency components in a still picture part. Preceding-field image data is stored in a field memory, and thereafter reference pixels which are located in an interpolation pixel position and its surrounding positions and required for interpolation are extracted from the preceding-field image data stored in the field memory and current-field image data. An inter-field motion judgement portion detects whether or not there is a motion of an image between preceding and current fields based on the extracted reference pixels. If the inter-field motion judgement portion detects that there is a motion, a selection circuit selects in-field interpolation data calculated in an in-field interpolation value calculation circuit from the current-field image data among the reference pixels. If the inter-field judgement portion detects that there is no motion, the selection circuit selects the preceding-field image data located in the interpolation pixel position among the reference pixels. Then, the selection circuit outputs the selected data as interpolation pixel image data.
