Abstract: An associatively organized cryogenic information-processing system having a plurality of identical words, each word having a predetermined number of storage bits and a plurality of controlled registers, each register having one bit for each word. Each bit of one of the control registers, termed the status register, has three stable states. One of the states is a ground state which exists in the event of failure of that bit in the status register so that the status register will detect failure of its own bit. The failure modes of the remainder of the system are controlled such that the failure of any part of any word results in the corresponding bit of the status register reverting to the ground state. During operation, those words identified by the status register as being failed are excluded from use.
