    Abstract: A method is described for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network. The data packet is sent in a data flow from an application function of the user equipment, the packet bearer (PB) is established with the user equipment to transmit the data packet (DP) over the communication network towards a further entity, and the user equipment is adapted to establish different packet bearers. The method comprises the steps of identifying the flow with the data packet in a control entity of the communication network, determining the packet bearer for association with said flow from the different packet bearers in a policy function of the control entity, determining a routing level identification of the further entity, instructing the user equipment to install a packet filter based on the routing level identification, wherein the packet filter associates data packets comprising the routing level identification of the further entity with the determined packet bearer, providing the routing level identification to the application function, including the routing level identification into the data packet, and forwarding the data packet (DP) on the determined packet bearer (PB). A corresponding network, control entity, monitoring entity and computer program are also described.

    Abstract: Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) configured to communicate with a wireless network via a primary cell (PCell) and one or more secondary cells (SCells). Such methods include receiving, from the wireless network, a plurality of configurations for a corresponding plurality of candidate PCells. Such methods include selecting one of the configurations upon occurrence of a failure event in a first cell configured as the PCell and switching the PCell from the first cell to the candidate PCell corresponding to the selected configuration. The method includes initiating, by generating a message within the user terminal, collection of the positioning data, where the positioning data includes information based on which a physical location of the user terminal is determined; measuring, by the user terminal, at least one parameter related to the physical location of the user terminal in response to the message; producing, within the user terminal, measurement reports that include the at least one parameter; selecting, within the user terminal, one or more measurement reports that were generated in response to the message generated by the user terminal; reporting the selected one or more measurement reports to an interface within the user terminal; and transmitting, from the interface, the reported one or more measurement reports to an external server or to the communication network.

    Abstract: A service class for a transmission of data packets between a service entity and a user equipment is selected from a plurality of service classes. A first transmission context is established between a core network node and the user equipment, and is associated with a first set of attributes for defining a first quality of service for the transmission. Furthermore, a second transmission context is established between an access node and the user equipment, and is associated with a second set of attributes for defining a second quality of service for the transmission. The selected service class determines the first set of attributes by a first unique mapping function performed in the core network node and the selected service class determines the second set of attributes by a second unique mapping function performed in the access node.

    Abstract: Embodiments include methods performed by an evolved Node B (eNB) configured with a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) radio access technology (RAT). Such methods include managing access to resources of the LTE RAT by a user equipment (UE) served by the eNB, based on one or more radio resource management (RRM) policies for the LTE RAT. Such methods also include sending, to a next-generation Node B (gNB) configured with a New Radio (NR) RAT, a request to establish dual connectivity with the UE as a secondary node (SN), wherein the request includes a Subscribers Profile ID for RAT/Frequency Priority (SPID) that is associated with the one or more RRM policies. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by a gNB, as well as eNBs and gNBs configured to perform such methods.
