    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a fifth generation (5G) communication system or a sixth generation (6G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a fourth generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). A method performed by a core network entity 107 for selecting a selective security mode for applying selective security is provided. The method receives first information block from RAN 106. The first information block includes UE capability to support selective security and preferred selective security mode. Further, core network entity may determine if RAN and core network entity are capable of supporting the preferred selective security mode. Finally, the core network entity applies the preferred selective security on the one or more incoming data packets based on the encryption status of the incoming data packets, when at least one of RAN and core network entity supports the preferred selective security mode.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services.Embodiments disclosed herein provide a method for managing a resource in a wireless communication system. The method includes allocating, by a base station, the resource for a data transmission from a User Equipment (UE) by indicating at least one bandwidth part in a total bandwidth supported by the UE. The resource is further allocated by indicating a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) and a Physical Downlink Shared Control Channel (PDSCH) according to a configured subcarrier spacing and a CP length within the at least one bandwidth part, and by indicating an allocation of Resource Blocks (RBs) within the at least one bandwidth part.
