Abstract: The present technology relates to a transmission device, a transmission method, a reception device, and a reception method that permit efficient transfer of time and other information. The transmission device generates a physical layer frame having preambles and a payload that includes, in the preamble, time information representing time of a given position in a stream of physical layer frames and transmits the physical layer frame. The reception device receives the physical layer frame and performs processes using time information. The present technology is applicable, for example, to IP packet broadcasting.

Abstract: The present technology relates to a reception apparatus and a data processing method that enable clock synchronization in a more suitable manner. The reception apparatus receives a digital broadcast signal of an IP transmission method that includes time information and a stream of content. The time information includes a seconds field and a nanoseconds field. The reception apparatus then generates a processing clock synchronized with the time information on the basis of the time information included in the digital broadcast signal, and processes the stream included in the digital broadcast signal on the basis of the processing clock. The present technology can be applied to, for example, television receivers conforming to the IP transmission method.

Abstract: [Object] The present technology relates to a reception apparatus, a reception method, a transmission apparatus, and a transmission method that enable more flexible operations to be performed.[Solving Means] A reception apparatus receives a content transmitted in an IP transmission system, acquires, based on first control information that is transmitted in a first layer in a protocol stack of the IP transmission system and includes information indicating whether second control information transmitted in a second layer higher than the first layer exists, the second control information, and controls operations of units that process the content based on the second control information. The present technology is applicable to television receivers supporting the IP transmission system.

Abstract: The present technology relates to a transmission device, a transmission method, a reception device, and a reception method that realize a process related to emergency warning information in DVB-T2 standard more promptly at a low power consumption. There is provided a transmission device including an emergency warning information acquisition unit configured to acquire emergency warning information, a content acquisition unit configured to acquire content, a transmission frame generation unit configured to generate a T2 frame including emergency warning notification information indicating that emergency warning information is being transmitted in P1 signaling or L1-pre signaling as a T2 frame, according to DVB-T2 standard, composed of a P1 symbol including P1 signaling, a P2 symbol including L1-pre signaling, and a symbol of data, and a transmission unit configured to transmit the T2 frame as a digital broadcast signal. The present technology can be applied to a transmitter that is capable of transmitting the digital broadcast signal according to the DVB-T2 standard for example.

Abstract: The present technology relates to a transmission apparatus, a transmission method, a reception apparatus, and a reception method that allow for reliable notification of a start position of a transport packet or a transport stream during encapsulation of the transport packet or the transport stream in an error correction block. The transmission apparatus generates an FEC block on the basis of an input packet or an input stream, generates an FEC frame on the basis of the FEC block, and sends the FEC frame. A header of the FEC block includes type identification information identifying a type of the input packet or the input stream, information detecting a header error, and a minimum fixed length header having start position information of the input packet or the input stream stored in a payload of the FEC frame. The present technology is applicable, for example, to data transport.

Abstract: The present technology relates to a transmission apparatus, a transmission method, a reception apparatus, and a reception method that efficiently broadcast IP packets to ensure a quick process. A transmission packet including the IP packet is transmitted and received. A header in the transmission packet is constituted of type information and length information. The type information expresses whether an IP header and a UDP header are compressed. The length information expresses a length of the transmission packet to transmit the IP packet including a UDP packet. A payload in the transmission packet is constituted of a destination IP address and a destination port number or a destination index made correspond to the destination IP address and the destination port number and a payload in the UDP packet. The present technology is, for example, applicable to the broadcast of the IP packets.
