摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display panel including a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer and a plurality of pixels. The first substrate includes a first electrode provided in each of the pixels and a first horizontal alignment film that determines a pretilt orientation of a liquid crystal molecule. The second substrate includes a second electrode provided to face the first electrode and a second horizontal alignment film that determines the pretilt orientation of the liquid crystal molecule. Each of the first and second horizontal alignment films is a photoalignment film. At least one of the first substrate and the second substrate includes an anchoring structure in each of the pixels. The liquid crystal display panel further includes an alignment sustaining layer which is formed on the surface of each of the first and second horizontal alignment films on the liquid crystal layer side, is configured with a photopolymer, and imparts a pretilt angle greater than 0° to the liquid crystal molecules.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device performs displaying by field sequential driving. The liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of scanning lines; and a plurality of signal lines including a plurality of pairs of signal lines, each pair of signal line being connected to one pixel column. Under field sequential driving, within one field period of emitting any of a plurality of color rays, there is an overlap between: a first period in which a first scanning line group included among the plurality of scanning lines are scanned and one of the pair of signal lines is used to perform signal writes; and a second period in which a second scanning line group included among the plurality of scanning lines are scanned, and another one of the pair of signal lines is used to perform signal writes.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device (100) includes a first liquid crystal display panel (1) configured to be capable of taking a transparent displaying state and a second liquid crystal display panel (2), such that the first liquid crystal display panel allows at least a portion of light going out of the second liquid crystal display panel to be transmitted in the transparent displaying state. The first liquid crystal display panel includes a first liquid crystal layer (1L) interposed between a pair of substrates, and first and second polarizers (1F, 1B) between which the first liquid crystal layer is interposed; the second liquid crystal display panel includes a second liquid crystal layer (2L) interposed between a pair of substrates, and a third polarizer (2F) placed on a side of the second liquid crystal layer that is closer to the first liquid crystal display panel; the second polarizer (1B) of the first liquid crystal display panel is on a side closer to the second liquid crystal display panel; and a transmission axis of the second polarizer (1B) and a transmission axis of the third polarizer (2F) are not orthogonal.

摘要: A display device (100) includes: a display panel (1) capable of being in a transparent display state where a background scene is viewable through the display panel; a panel light source (3) that irradiates the display panel with colored light of a plurality of colors in a time division manner; a rear side light source (2) placed on a rear surface side of the display panel, the rear side light source being capable of emitting colored light of a plurality of colors in a time division manner; and a control circuit that controls emission timings of the colored light from the panel light source and from the rear side light source, wherein the panel light source and the rear side light source are synchronized by the control circuit such that colored light of different colors are not emitted at a same timing.

摘要: The present invention provides a liquid-crystal-driving method of driving liquid crystal by causing a potential difference between a pair of electrodes provided for one of upper and lower substrates, wherein a DC image sticking and a flicker are sufficiently reduced, and a liquid crystal display device driven by using the liquid-crystal-driving method. The present invention relates to a method of driving liquid crystal by causing a potential difference between a pair of electrodes provided for one of upper and lower substrates. In the liquid-crystal-driving method, a driving operation of driving liquid crystal by causing a potential between a pair of electrodes is executed. In the driving operation, the absolute value of a second offset voltage is larger than that of a first offset voltage.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device (100) includes a liquid crystal display panel (1) including a first substrate (10), a second substrate (20), and a liquid crystal layer (30). The first substrate includes a first electrode (11) provided for each pixel, and a second electrode (12) for generating a lateral field across the liquid crystal layer in cooperation with the first electrode. The first electrode includes a plurality of linear portions (11a), the plurality of linear portions being arranged so that at least one of the following exists in a plurality: the direction that the linear portions extend and the pitch of the linear portions.

A second substrate (20) includes a third electrode (21) generating a vertical electric field in the liquid crystal layer together with the first electrode and the second electrode. Each pixel exhibits, in a switched manner, a black display state where black display is provided in a state where the vertical electric field is generated in the liquid crystal layer, a white display state where white display is provided in a state where the lateral electric field is generated in the liquid crystal layer, and a transparent display state where a rear side of a liquid crystal display panel (1) is seen through in a state where no voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer. A potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode at each gray scale level from a lowest level to a highest level is 60% or less of a potential difference between the second electrode and the third electrode in the black display state.
