The method comprises the following steps of: determining a set of coordinated Base Stations (BSs) participating multi-BS coordination, the set of coordination BSs containing a serving BS and at least one non-serving BS; for each BS in the set of coordinated BSs: calculating a Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR) for a channel between a UE and the BS based on a hypothetical BS coordination mode corresponding to the BS; and deriving a Channel Quality Index (CQI) corresponding to the calculated SINR and feeding back the derived CQI to the serving BS.

The present disclosure provides a method in a base station for Channel State Information (CSI) process configuration and an associated base station. The method comprises: setting CSI process information for a User Equipment (UE) supporting three dimensional (3D) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), the CSI process information including at least an index of a CSI Reference Signal Resource (CSI-RS-R) for a vertical direction of a 3D MIMO antenna array; and transmitting the set CSI process information to the UE. Also disclosed are a method in a UE for CSI feedback and an associated UE. The method comprises: receiving CSI process information from a base station, the CSI process information including at least an index of a CSI Reference Signal Resource (CSI-RS-R) for a vertical direction of a three dimensional (3D) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna array; measuring a CSI Reference Signal (CSI-RS) transmitted from the base station over the CSI-RS-R configured by the base station; and feeding CSI information back to the base station based on a measurement result.

The present invention also provides (i) a method carried out by a user equipment, (ii) a corresponding base station, and (iii) the corresponding user equipment. According to the present invention, it is possible to increase energy use efficiency of an LTE-Advanced system, improve spectral efficiency, and reduce inter-cell collision of time/frequency resources.

The present disclosure provides a method in a UE for feeding back channel state information (CSI) and the UE. The method comprises: acquiring a set of CSI processes which are configured by a transmission point (TP) to participate in multi-antenna multi-TP coordination; acquiring a sub-band (SB) inheritance which is configured by a TP for a CSI process from the set of CSI processes; calculating the CSI based on the configuration for the CSI process; and feeding the calculated CSI back to a TP. The present disclosure has the advantages of simple implementation and low signalling overhead and is applicable to enhanced 4G systems and to 5G systems.

The disclosure provides a method for constructing a three-dimensional (3D) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) pre-coding matrix, a method for feeding back index values of a 3D MIMO pre-coding matrix and related communication devices. The method for constructing a 3D MIMO pre-coding matrix comprises: constructing a first component matrix in a block diagonal form, wherein a diagonal sub-matrix of the first component matrix is a 3D beamforming sub-precoder for a two-dimensional (2D) antenna array; constructing a second component matrix which comprises phase weighting factors as matrix elements, wherein the phase weighting factors characterize coherent combination of signals from the 2D antenna array; and constructing the 3D MIMO pre-coding matrix according to the constructed first and second component matrixes. The method for feeding back index values of a 3D MIMO pre-coding matrix comprises: estimating a MIMO channel; and according to a result of the channel estimation, selecting and feeding back a first index value, a second index value and a third index value.
