    摘要: An anode structure for a cylindrical primary electrochemical cell. The anode structure in accordance with the invention includes a thin, circular, lithium metal disc having a central opening therein, and a small, thin, resilient, metal (e.g., nickel) contact member secured to the lithium disc. The metal contact member is of a generally circular configuration and has a flat central portion with a circular opening therein aligned with the opening in the lithium disc. The contact member has a plurality of tab portions extending outwardly from, and spaced at regular intervals about, its outer periphery, and a pair of spikes or barbs depending from opposed ends of each tab portion. The spikes are pressed into the soft lithium disc at points spaced from the opening therein for permanently securing the contact member to the disc. The contact member further has a plurality of notches spaced at regular intervals about the perimeter of the central opening thereby to define a plurality of resilient, deflective portions intermediate to the notches. The deflective portions lie in a flat, common plane with each of the deflective portions having an exposed edge facing a central axis of the contact member.

    摘要: A type of electrochemical cell has two electrode structure elements wound in a coil and inserted in a sealed can. The electrode structures are separated by a porous insulating sheet. One electrode structure has a metal substrate carrying a plurality of holes. The metal substrate supports layers of an electrode material such as porous carbon. Both edges and one end of the substrate is kept free of the material. The bare end of the substrate is on the outside of the coil. The substrate and porous insulating sheets are wider than the other electrode structures, so that when the coil is inserted in the can, the substrate and the porous insulating sheet makes contact with the top and bottom internal surfaces of the can.

    摘要: In one aspect of the invention, an electrochemical reserve cell is assembled by arranging within a cylindrical housing a concentric arrangement of a container, a lithium sheet, a porous separator, and a porous carbon element. The container holds a quantity of electrolyte solute which may be either a salt or dissolved in a solvent. A quantity of liquid cathode solvent is inserted in the housing but outside the centrally located container. Electrical contact is made between the lithium sheet and a cap terminal and the housing is sealed completing the assembly.To activate the cell, the container is broken, allowing its contents to mix with the solvent.

    摘要: A carbon cathode structure is described comprising an aggregate of discrete, porous, semi-rigid carbon conglomerates which are impressed from both sides onto a screen-like substrate for physical support thereby.
