Abstract: A distributor module includes a housing having first and second refrigerant inlets and first and second refrigerant outlets for connection to a compressor and a condenser-evaporator device. A heat exchanger and a shutoff valve are arranged within the housing. The heat exchanger is connected to the refrigerant inlets and refrigerant outlets such that heat from a refrigerant flowing between the first refrigerant inlet and the first refrigerant outlet and between the second refrigerant inlet and the second refrigerant outlet can be exchanged. The shutoff valve is connected to the second refrigerant inlet and the heat exchanger. A refrigerant connector is connected to the second refrigerant inlet on a shutoff valve inlet side. A further refrigerant connector is connected to the heat exchanger on a shutoff valve outlet side. At least one refrigerant subcircuit is formed between the refrigerant connectors, and sections of the subcircuit are arranged within the housing.

Abstract: A thermal management system is provided for a vehicle that includes a traction battery. The thermal management system includes refrigerant and cooling subsystems. The cooling subsystem includes a cabin coolant loop that provides thermal management of a passenger cabin of the vehicle, a battery coolant loop that provides thermal management of the traction battery and a drivetrain coolant loop that provides thermal management of a drivetrain and power electronics of the vehicle. The cabin, battery and the drivetrain coolant loops are interconnected via coolant proportional valves and fluid lines.

Abstract: Method of cooling a heat exchanger of an engine using a cooling fan system includes: measuring conditions of an engine cooling system, determining a desired fan cooling demand. Based on the fan cooling demand, a fan control circuit operates to selectively control an electrically commutated (EC) motor at a continuously variable speed for an EC cooling fan and to control a direct current (DC) motor of a DC cooling fan. The DC motor is controlled to: not operate the DC cooling fan, operate the DC motor at a first predetermined operating speed, and operate the DC motor at a second predetermined operating speed corresponding to a second DC motor speed signal that is less than the first predetermined operating speed. The conditions for determining fan cooling demand include at least one of a temperature and a pressure of an engine coolant and of a refrigerant of a vehicle air conditioning system.
