Abstract: A fill limiter vent valve (FLVV) adapted for suspension downward into a fuel tank has upper and lower housing members having openings in their cylindrical walls cooperating to define a spill-over level for fuel into the FLVV producing float-initiated vent valve closure during a fuel fill event. The lower housing member has a latching member fixedly engageable with one or more cooperating latching features of the upper housing member in a plurality of relative axial positions; and the spill-over level is varied by relative axial movement of the housing members between those positions. Axial alignment of the latching member and the cooperating latching features is maintained by axially aligned, interacting surface features of the housing members.

Abstract: A device and method for venting a tank comprising an intermediate shutoff valve as part of a cover that closes a tank opening. The intermediate shutoff valve is placed between an existing valve and a vent port in a liquid storage tank. The shutoff valve is operable to substantially fluidly seal the vent port when the vent valve is displaced greater than a predetermined amount. The intermediate shutoff valve facilitates complete removal of the existing vent valve during an impact wherein a wall of the storage tank impacts the existing valve. Upon impact, the intermediate shutoff valve is operable to close and seal a tank opening created by the displacement and removal of the existing vent valve.

Abstract: A modular fuel reservoir (MFR) including a cup-shaped plastic reservoir and a fuel pressure regulator supported on the reservoir. A fuel pump is supported in a tubular chamber of a retainer on top of the plastic reservoir and includes an exposed metal shell bearing against a wall of the tubular chamber and an electric motor turned on and off through a positive contact terminal and a negative contact terminal on a plastic end housing of the fuel pump. The retainer is made of an electrically conductive polymer and includes a resilient fin bearing against a metal housing of the pressure regulator. Ions stripped from the fuel and collected on the metal housing of the pressure regulator are conducted to the negative terminal on the end housing of the fuel pump through the electrically conductive retainer, the metal shell of the fuel pump, and an internal conductor in the fuel pump between the metal shell and the negative terminal. The wall of the tubular chamber on retainer constitutes a shield around the fuel pump which reduces radiated electrical emissions attributable to commutation in the electric motor of the fuel pump.

Abstract: A check valve plunger assembly for use in a fluid channel is provided. The check valve plunger assembly includes a check valve plunger having a first end, a second end, and a body portion. The body portion extends between the first and second end of the check valve plunger. The plunger assembly also includes an integral breakaway retention device having a ring shaped portion. The retention device is capable of being positioned around the check valve plunger such that the ring shaped portion surrounds at least a portion of the first end of the check valve plunger. Breakaway connectors are provided which connect the first end of the check valve plunger with the ring shaped portion of the retention device. After assembly, the check valve plunger is separated from the breakaway connectors and the plunger is able to freely move within the fluid channel. The present invention also provides a method of inserting this check valve plunger within the fluid channel.

Abstract: A valve mechanism to control fluid flow between a fluid pumping device and a system that includes an inlet from the fluid pumping device, a first valve, a second valve, a first outlet fluidly connected to the system, and a second outlet. The first valve prevents backflow of fluid when the fluid pumping device discontinues pumping fluid to the system. The second valve checks fluid flow through the valve to the first outlet when fluid pressure at the inlet is less than a first predetermined pressure.
