According to one method, a voicemail routing query is received at an advanced voicemail routing node, where the query includes at least one parameter associated with a voicemail transaction. Based on at least one query parameter, voicemail routing information may be determined that identifies a voicemail server and a voicemail service from among a plurality of voicemail servers, where at least some of the voicemail servers provide different services. A voicemail routing query response may then be generated including the determined voicemail routing information.

A filtering and application triggering platform may be implemented on a signaling message routing node to decode signaling messages and increase efficiency in subsequent processing of the signaling message. A communications link module on a signaling message routing node receives a signaling message. A first filtering and application triggering module associated with the communication link module extracts predetermined parameters from the signaling message and generates a decode key based on the parameters. The first filtering and application triggering module applies a first triggering rule to the decode key and determines whether to forward or drop the message. If the first filtering and application triggering module determines that the message should be forwarded, the first filtering and application triggering module forwards the message to another processing module within the signaling message routing node. The decode key is forwarded along with the message. The next processing module may extract additional parameters from the message, add the parameters to the decode key, and apply a triggering rule to the modified decode key.

Methods, systems, and computer program products for using an E.164 number (ENUM) database for message service message routing resolution among 2G and subsequent generation network systems are disclosed. According to one method, a message including message service message content is received. The message may include a 2G message recipient identifier. An ENUM database may be queried. A response from the ENUM database is received. Based on the response, unavailability of a subsequent generation network address for the recipient is determined. In response to the unavailability, the message service message content is attempted to be delivered to the recipient via a 2G network.

One aspect of the subject matter described herein includes a system for routing BICC signaling messages and managing call instance code assignments. The system includes a BICC signaling router. The BICC signaling router includes a routing module for centralized routing of BICC signaling messages between a plurality of BICC signaling nodes. The BICC signaling router further includes a call instance code management module for centralized assignment of call instance codes for BICC signaling sessions routed through the BICC signaling router.

A signaling message processing and routing node intercepts and routes signaling system 7 (SS7)-based signaling messages received from the base station controller (BSC) component of a base station system (BSS) via an A-interface link interface. The A-interface normally connects a BSC node to a mobile switching center (MSC) node. Upon determining that a signaling message received from a BSC node via an A-interface link is an SMS-related message, the SMS message is routed towards the appropriate destination without involving the MSC node connected to the BSC. The SMS message may be encapsulated within an Internet protocol (IP)-based transport adapter layer interface (TALI) protocol packet and transmitted into an IP network. As a result, MSC resources are conserved.
