摘要: A disc replacement device including a first body member with a convex articulation surface and a second body member with a concave articulation surface is disclosed. When operably positioned, the convex articulation surface engages the concave articulation surface to provide for movement therebetween. The disc replacement device also includes a first opening in the first body member and a second opening in the second body member, wherein the openings are angled and extends from the front aspects of the body members through the external surfaces. The disc replacement device further includes at least two bone fasteners for insertion into the first and second openings to secure the disc replacement device to a first and second vertebra. An interbody motion device and fusion implant, as well as a surgical method for implantation are also disclosed.

摘要: A locking plate apparatus for engagement with a bone is provided in accordance with the present invention. Locking plate apparatus includes a plate that has a body portion and an internal wall defining a plate hole through body portion and a bushing with a passageway therethrough. Bushing is sized for polyaxial rotation within plate hole. Locking plate apparatus also includes an attachment component that has a leading portion sized for extension through passageway and into bone and an opposite trailing portion. Trailing portion presses bushing against internal wall of plate to forrn a friction lock between bushing and plate in a selected polyaxial position.

摘要: Δn apparatus and method for distracting, in a given direction, and supporting two tissue surfaces is provided. A plurality of wafers are consecutively inserted using a wafer insertion apparatus between the two tissue surfaces to create a column of wafers. A detachable wafer assembly is provided that includes a base wafer initially associated with a track assembly of a wafer insertion apparatus. The base wafer is dislodged from the track assembly so that the base wafer is left within the distraction site as the track assembly is removed. A top cap wafer is provided that is situated at the top of the wafer stack, in which the top cap wafer is larger than the remaining wafers to form a gap surrounding the stack to receive biologic material.

摘要: A bone plate apparatus of the present invention includes a plate having a slot extending between the superior and inferior surfaces of the plate, and a rim extending about the slot which includes an interrupted surface, a fastener including a shaft formed for extension into the bone, a collar coupled to the shaft having an interrupted surface which mates with the interrupted surface of the rim of the slot, and a head coupled to the collar for movement in the slot, and a nut forred to cooperate with the head of the fastener to couple the interrupted surfaces of the fastener and the rim together, thereby locking the head in a fixed position within the slot.
