    Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for flexible beamforming using frequency-division multiplexing. In an example aspect, an apparatus includes an antenna array and a wireless transceiver with two or more dedicated receive paths respectively coupled to two or more antenna elements of the antenna array, two or more mixers, a first combiner, a second combiner, and a switching circuit. The first combiner has a first input coupled to a first dedicated receive path and an output coupled to an input of a first mixer. The second combiner has a first input coupled to an output of the first mixer and a second input coupled to an output of a second mixer. The switching circuit is configured to selectively connect a second dedicated receive path to a second input of the first combiner or connect the second dedicated receive path to an input of the second mixer.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for calibration of an array antenna system. A device may transmit a calibration signal from a first antenna element of an antenna array. The calibration signal may be generated by modulating a first signal having a first frequency with a modulation signal having a second frequency. The device may receive the calibration signal using a second antenna element of the antenna array. The device may analyze a sideband of the received calibration signal, where the sideband may be offset in frequency from the first frequency by the second frequency. The device may calibrate the array antenna system based on or more measured properties of the sideband.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for calibration of an array antenna system. A device may transmit a calibration signal from a first antenna element of an antenna array. The calibration signal may be generated by modulating a first signal having a first frequency with a modulation signal having a second frequency. The device may receive the calibration signal using a second antenna element of the antenna array. The device may analyze a sideband of the received calibration signal, where the sideband may be offset in frequency from the first frequency by the second frequency.     Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for implementing a flexible beamforming architecture. In an example aspect, the apparatus comprises an antenna array comprising a first antenna element with a first feed port and a second antenna element with a second feed port. The apparatus also comprises a wireless transceiver with a first dedicated transceiver path coupled to the first feed port and a second dedicated transceiver path coupled to the second feed port. The wireless transceiver also comprises a flexible beamforming network configured to selectively be in a first configuration that couples both the first dedicated transceiver path and the second dedicated transceiver path to a first intermediate transceiver path of the wireless transceiver, and be in a second configuration that connects the first dedicated transceiver path to the first intermediate transceiver path and connects the second dedicated transceiver path to a second intermediate transceiver path of the wireless transceiver.
