    Abstract: During a positioning session between a user equipment (UE) and a location server, the location server may send the base station a request to suspend the Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection with the UE. For example, the location server may send a request to the base station recommending suspension of the connection or may provide an indication of the amount of time during which position related messages between the UE and the location server are not expected. The base station may determine whether to suspend the connection with the UE, thereby placing the UE in an inactive state based on the information provided. The base station may further determine whether to suspend the connection based on data activity of the UE. While in an inactive state, the UE and base station store UE connection context, which may be used to quickly resume the connection.

    Abstract: During positioning of a user equipment (UE), for example, during an emergency call, a civic location of the UE may be determined. For example, during a location session in a wireless network, a UE may detect a WiFi access point (AP) and obtain the civic location of the WiFi AP from the AP. The UE may provide the civic location to a location server in the wireless network, which may treat the civic location as the civic location of the UE. The location server may validate the civic location using a geodetic location, e.g., obtained based on measurements from a satellite positioning system and/or base stations in the wireless network. The location server may further verify that the UE is proximate to the WiFi AP using WiFi positioning measurements performed by the UE. The validated civic location can be provided to an external client, e.g. a PSAP.

    Abstract: Techniques for verifying a user equipment (UE) location in a non-terrestrial network (NTN) are disclosed. In some embodiments, such techniques may involve receiving location data of the target UE; obtaining one or more locations of one or more other UEs that are within a sidelink communication range of the target UE; receiving sidelink measurements obtained by the one or more other UEs relative to the target UE or by the target UE obtained for the one or more other UEs; and verifying the location data of the target UE (e.g., a location of the target UE) based at least on the sidelink measurements and the one or more locations of the one or more other UEs. The location verification may ensure that the target UE only accesses an NTN that is allowed to serve the location of the target UE.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A second wireless device (such as a head-mounted display (HMD) device) may communicate with a first wireless device (such as a user equipment (UE)) via a tethered wireless connection. The tethered wireless connection may be associated with a first type of radio access technology (RAT). The first wireless device may obtain an indication of one or more access points (APs) associated with a second type of RAT. The first wireless device may transmit an indication of one or more candidate APs for a handover of the second wireless device from the first wireless device to maintain the connectivity between the second wireless device and a network. As such, the second wireless device may use the wireless characteristics to determine whether to handover to a candidate AP or maintain the tethered wireless connection with the first wireless device.
