Abstract:
Various methods for managing packet switched (PS) states on a mobile communication device may include performing, on a first subscription on the mobile communication device, a transition from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT, determining whether at least one application on the mobile communication device is utilizing on-demand PS services on the first subscription, and registering for circuit switched (CS) services but not PS services on the second RAT in response to determining that no applications on the mobile communication device is utilizing on-demand PS services on the first subscription.
Abstract:
Various embodiments include methods implemented on a mobile communication device for acquiring service when the mobile communication device has a first subscription and a second subscription that belong to the same network operator. The methods may include receiving a first equivalent public land mobile network (EPLMN) database associated with the first subscription, determining whether a second EPLMN database associated with the second subscription is the same as the first EPLMN database, and modifying the second EPLMN database based on the first EPLMN database in response to determining that the second EPLMN database associated with the second subscription is not the same as the first EPLMN database.
Abstract:
A method for call setup for a voice-over-long-term evolution (VoLTE) call on multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) multi-standby (MSMS) mobile communication device includes: receiving a long-term evolution (LTE) page; determining whether a WiFi connection is available; in response to determining that the WiFi connection is not available, determining whether the LTE page was received on a non-dedicated data subscription (DDS) subscription; and in response to determining that the LTE page was received on the non-DDS subscription, granting a highest priority for communication activities to an LTE page response on the non-DDS subscription.
Abstract:
Various methods for performing public land mobile network (PLMN) searches on a mobile communication device may include obtaining information about one or more radio access technologies (RATs) for which network coverage is allowed by a network operator of a home PLMN (HPLMN) of the mobile communication device, selecting one of the one or more allowed RATs, conducting a PLMN search on the selected RAT, and determining whether there are available PLMNs on the selected RAT based on the PLMN search. In some examples, the information about one or more RATs for which network coverage is allowed by the network operator may be stored in a universal subscriber identity module (USIM) on the mobile communication device. In such example, the information may be stored in one or more PLMN selector lists on the USIM.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for device configuration (e.g., feature segment loading and system selection). Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to operating a user equipment (UE) in a first radio access network (RAN) with a first set of modem features that supports the first RAN, detecting a second RAN not supported by the first set of modem features, and rebooting the modem software to load a second set of modem features that supports the detected RAN. For certain aspects, the first RAN may be a Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) network and the second RAN may be a Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) network or long term evolution network. This allows features to be loaded into memory (e.g., only) when they are required to support a detected RAN, rather than loading an entire image, thereby conserving DRAM and increasing efficiency.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may establish, using a first subscription of the UE, a first communication connection associated with a first service. The UE may establish, using a second subscription of the UE, a second communication connection associated with a second service. The UE may operate in a dual subscriber identity module (SIM) dual active (DSDA) mode based at least in part on establishing the first communication connection and establishing the second communication connection. The UE may perform an action to maintain concurrent services, including the first service and the second service, while operating in the DSDA mode. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may detect that a first subscription, of a plurality of subscriptions associated with the UE, is associated with an active service on a first cellular network. The UE may search, for a second subscription of the plurality of subscriptions, for radio access technologies (RATs) and frequency bands that are compatible with a dual active mode of the UE. In some aspects, the UE may detect that the active service on the first cellular network has ended. Accordingly, the UE may search, for the second subscription, for RATs and frequency bands that are compatible with the dual active mode of the UE and for RATs and frequency bands that are incompatible with the dual active mode, before expiry of a timer associated with a power saving state. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for using a message to update a user equipment (UE) radio capability. For example a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) may include generating a tracking area update (TAU) message with an indication of a UE radio capability update, transmitting the TAU message, and detaching and reattaching the UE from a network if a UE capability inquiry is not received from the network or a capability mismatch between the UE and the network is detected.
Abstract:
A method for prioritizing a mobile originated emergency call over mobile terminated call signaling, includes: initiating an emergency call on a first subscription; determining whether a mobile terminated (MT) call is incoming on a second subscription; in response to determining that the MT call is incoming on the second subscription, aborting the MT call signaling; determining whether the first subscription is out of service; and in response to determining that the first subscription is not out of service completing the emergency call on the first subscription.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for improving call setup performance. In certain aspects, a User Equipment (UE) or a network servicing the UE, may detect at least one of the occurrence or anticipated occurrence of circuit switched (CS) signaling by a user equipment (UE), wherein the CS signaling at least comprises signaling associated with a CS call setup procedure, suspend packet-switched (PS) signaling or processing of such PS signaling in order to avoid delaying circuit-switched (CS) signaling, at least until the PS signaling may not substantially effect CS domain activity. In an aspect, a progress of a CS call setup procedure may be monitored and the PS signaling or processing of such PS signaling may be resumed based on completion of a radio bearer setup step in the CS call setup procedure.
