Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) may monitor a channel for wireless communication associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) during one or more of a first active duration or a first inactive duration. The UE may operate in a first power mode during the first inactive duration. The UE may monitor the channel for wireless communication associated with a second RAT during one or more of a second active duration or a second inactive duration. The UE may operate during the second inactive duration in one or more of the first power mode or a second power. The UE may operate according to the first mode or the second mode based on the monitoring of the channel associated with the first RAT and the second RAT.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for wireless communications are described. A method of wireless communications includes determining an energy for a first signal received at a first finger of a rake receiver after a reference signal is received at a second finger of the rake receiver, determining an energy for a second signal received at a third finger of a rake receiver before the reference signal is received at the second finger of the rake receiver, and selecting the first signal as a new reference signal when the energy of the first signal exceeds the energy of the second signal by a predefined threshold amount. In another aspect, a method includes assigning a signal received at a rake receiver to a finger of the rake receiver, and deassigning the finger if the signal has an energy level below a preselected lock threshold energy for a predefined time.
Abstract:
Aspects described herein relate to communicating with multiple cells based on two separate subscriptions stored at the UE in a dual subscription dual standby (DSDS) mode, switching to communicate with the multiple cells in a dual subscription dual active (DSDA) mode, transmitting, to at least one of the multiple cells and based on a number of component carriers allowed for a subscription being exceeded by switching to communicate in the DSDA mode, assistance information to indicate a threshold amount of component carriers for the UE, and transmitting, to at least one of the multiple cells and based on the number of component carriers allowed for the subscription being exceeded by switching to communicate in the DSDA mode, a channel quality indicator (CQI) value for one or more cells of the multiple cells to request deactivation of one or more component carriers with, or release of, the one or more cells.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling improved performance for page decodes on a SIM of a multi-SIM wireless communication device in which a shared radio frequency (RF) resource is used to read system information for a different SIM. After determining that a first SIM is using the shared RF resource to decode SIBs, the wireless device may receive information about an upcoming page decode time for monitoring a paging channel associated with the second SIM. The wireless device may obtain system information block (SIB) scheduling information associated with the first SIM, and may create a RF resource release gap during the system information read period based on the SIB scheduling information and the upcoming page decode time. Control of the RF resource may be released from the modem stack associated within the first SIM, and gained by a modem stack associated with the second SIM during the RF resource release gap.
Abstract:
User Equipments (UEs) are adapted to facilitate power conservation by dynamic selection of power reduction techniques during discontinuous reception (DRX), where the power reduction techniques are selected based on a DRX gap length. UEs may be adapted to calculate a DRX gap length, and identify a power reduction technique associated with the determined DRX gap length. The identified power reduction technique may be applied to a receiver circuit during the DRX gap. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Abstract:
A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus may be a User Equipment (UE) having a first subscription to a first RAT and a second subscription to a second RAT configured to operate using the first RAT, to change from operating using the first RAT to operating using the second RAT to monitor multiple Synchronization Signal Blocks (SSBs) at multiple times prior to performing at least one of decoding a paging message, receiving system information, searching a neighboring frequency, or measuring the neighboring frequency, to return to using the first RAT during a first period between at least one set of adjacent times of the multiple times that the UE monitors for the SSBs, and to change from using the first RAT to using the second RAT to receive the paging message, receive the system information, search the neighboring frequency, or measure the neighboring frequency.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide methods for a multi-Subscription Identity Module (SIM) wireless communication device for managing data exchanges with a network when an enhanced dedicated channel is requested on a first subscription. The methods may include performing operations during a testing phase to determine whether an enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid after a tune-away to a second subscription is completed, while transmitting data using the enhanced dedicated channel presuming that the enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid during the testing phase. The methods may include recording a list of protocol data units (PDUs) corresponding to data transmitted using the enhanced dedicated channel during the testing phase. The list of PDUs may be cleared and data exchanged with the network in response to determining that the enhanced dedicated channel grant is valid. Otherwise, the multi-SIM wireless communication device may request another enhanced dedicated channel grant.
Abstract:
An example method may include receiving a first subframe. In addition, the example method may include decoding information transmitted in the first subframe. Further, the example method may include switching to an inactive mode subsequent to the completion of the reception of the first subframe. Further still, the example method may include exiting the inactive mode and decoding downlink data transmitted in one or more second subframes in a current reception (Rx) burst time interval when the decoded information transmitted in the first subframe indicates an upcoming transmission of downlink data in the one or more second subframes.
Abstract:
The present disclosure presents a method and apparatus for improving uplink (UL) performance at a user equipment (UE). For example, the method may include identifying a random access channel (RACH) preamble failure when the UE is communicating with a current serving cell of the UE, increasing transmission power of successive RACH preambles based at least on the identifying, comparing signals received on a downlink at the UE via a first path and a second path from the current serving cell of the UE, and determining that a RACH preamble failure problem exists at the UE based at least on the comparing of the signals received on the downlink and identifying of successive RACH preamble failures. As such, improved performance uplink (UL) performance at a UE may be achieved.
