    Abstract: A dual-polarized multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) mobile device is provided that includes a first array of antennas and a second array of antennas. Based upon a blockage of at least one of the array of antennas being less than a blockage threshold, the mobile device operates in a default configuration in which a default polarization selection from the second array is used in combination with a fixed polarization selection from the first array to form a first MIMO layer signal and a second MIMO layer signal. Should the blockage exceed the blockage threshold and an optional performance threshold be satisfied, the mobile device may operate in a dynamic configuration in which a dynamic polarization selection from the second array is reversed as compared to the default polarization selection.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for wireless communication. Various aspects support beam switching and changing antenna array configurations for communicating in a near field range. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a beam group indicator to a network entity, and the UE and the network entity may perform beam switching operations associated with switch communication beams in association with changes to a distance between the UE and the network entity. In some such examples, the beam switching may switch from using beam weights for communications in a far field range to beam weights for communications in a near field range. Additionally or alternatively, the network entity may change configurations of an antenna array used to communicate with the UE in association with changes to the distance. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a capability message indicating a capability to support a set of frequency bands for wireless communications with an antenna panel. Based on the capability, the UE may receive a first control message from a network entity indicating a portion of the set of frequency bands to use for further wireless communications based on the network entity determining an interference between a set of UEs including the UE and the UE satisfying a threshold interference value. The set of frequency bands may relate to a beamforming scan range. As such, the UE may transmit further wireless communications via a frequency band of the portion of the set of frequency bands based on the first control message and the beamforming scan range.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a network node, a polarization performance loss indication that is indicative of a loss in polarization performance based on transitioning from a first operating state associated with a first frequency range to a second operating state associated with a second frequency range, wherein the first operating state corresponds to a first antenna configuration and the second operating state corresponds to a second antenna configuration, wherein the first antenna configuration corresponds to a first antenna orientation and the second antenna configuration corresponds to a second antenna orientation. The apparatus identifies a first polarization of a first set of antenna elements on a first side of an antenna module having two or more sides. The apparatus identifies a second polarization of a second set of antenna elements on a second side of the antenna module.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit a synchronization signal block (SSB) burst set including a first set of SSBs transmitted using a first codebook and a second set of SSBs transmitted using a second codebook. In some cases, the first codebook may be configured for beamforming at a first transmission distance range (e.g., for far field transmissions) and the second codebook may be configured for beamforming at a second transmission distance range (e.g., for near field transmissions). Based on transmitting the SSB burst, the base station may receive an indication of a first SSB from the first set or the second set from a user equipment (UE). The base station may then communicate messages to the UE using a transmission beam and codebook associated with the first SSB indicated by the UE.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with other network devices as part of a wireless communications system. The UE may identify a blockage corresponding to one or more antenna arrays of a set of antenna arrays based on using a first set of beam weights, which may correspond to a static beamforming codebook of the one or more antenna arrays. The UE may switch from a static beamforming codebook-based beam weight determination to a dynamic beamforming codebook-based beam weight determination. The UE may then determine a second set of beam weights to use for the one or more antenna arrays based on the dynamic beamforming codebook-based beam weight determination. The UE may then communicate using the one or more antenna arrays according to the second set of beam weights.
