    Abstract: This secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte. The electrolyte contains a solvent containing water, and a lithium salt. The negative electrode has a negative electrode active material that contains a carbon material. In the carbon material, the peak intensity ratio (D/G value) of a D band and a G band in the Raman spectrum obtained using Raman spectroscopy is 0.9 to 1.5. A coating is formed on the surface of the carbon material. In the coating, in the XPS spectrum measured using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, when the peak intensity of a 1s electron orbit of an F atom for which the binding energy appears near 685 eV is P1, and the peak intensity of the 1s electron orbit of an O atom for which the binding energy appears near 532 eV is P2, the ratio of the peak intensity P1 to the peak intensity P2 (P1/P2 value) is 0.6 to 3.0.

    Abstract: An alkaline dry battery includes: a bottomed cylindrical case; a hollow cylindrical positive electrode inscribed in the case; a negative electrode filled in a hollow part of the positive electrode and including a negative electrode active material containing zinc; a separator disposed between the positive and negative electrodes; an alkaline electrolytic solution; and a sealing unit. The alkaline electrolytic solution is contained in the positive and negative electrodes, and the separator. The sealing unit covers an opening of the case and includes a negative electrode current collector, a portion of the negative electrode current collector being inserted into the negative electrode. An additive is packed in a gap between the negative electrode and the sealing unit. The additive includes a wax component having a melting point of 60° C. or more and 110° C. or less. The wax component being an aliphatic hydrocarbon compound and/or an ester compound.

    Abstract: A life estimation apparatus includes a second calculation unit that calculates a remaining capacity, which is a capacity with which the lithium ion secondary cell is capable of being charged or which the lithium ion secondary cell is capable of discharging, based on Equation 1 having an exponent n1 of 0.9 to 1.1 and Equation 2 having an exponent n2 of 0.4 to 0.6. The second calculation unit calculates the remaining capacity using Equation 1 if the amount of change of open circuit voltage, the amount of change of a voltage rise width, or the amount of change of a voltage rise rate has a positive value and calculates the remaining capacity using Equation 2 if the amount of change of the open circuit voltage, the amount of change of the voltage rise width, or the amount of change of the voltage rise rate has a negative value.
