Abstract: A light sheet illumination microscope includes an illumination optical system configured to illuminate a sample from a direction substantially perpendicular to an optical axis of a detection optical system. The illumination optical system includes a first optical element configured to convert light emitted from a light source into a light sheet that forms an illumination area having a sheet shape substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the detection optical system when the sample is irradiated with the light sheet. The illumination optical system further includes a second optical element that configured to act on the light emitted from the light source such that the light sheet is converged, diverged or diffracted in a width direction of the light sheet.

Abstract: A bending measurement apparatus includes a first multimode fiber, a wavefront input apparatus, a first wavefront measurement device, and a processor. The wavefront input apparatus inputs a first wavefront to the first multimode fiber as an input wavefront. The first wavefront measurement device measures an output wavefront outputted from the first multimode fiber as a measured wavefront. The processor select correspondence information which corresponds to the measured wavefront. The correspondence information shows a correspondence relationship between the input wavefront and the output wavefront. The processor sets the bending amount corresponding to the selected correspondence information as a current bending amount of the first multimode fiber.

Abstract: An observation system includes an illumination unit including a light source from which emits an illumination light including light of a plurality of colors, and light receiving unit including an optical sensor which acquires a light intensity. The illumination unit emits the illumination light for a culture vessel so that the illumination light travels from a first side to a second side of the culture vessel, the first side and the second side being defined by interposing a culture medium. The light receiving unit receives, on the first side, light emitted from the illumination unit, entering the culture vessel from the first side, reflected at the second side, and transmitted through the culture medium, and acquires a light intensity for each color in the received light for calculation of a pH value of the culture medium.
