Abstract:
An apparatus and a method are provided for processing audio and/or video data comprising a module for displaying an element comprising at least one absolute time or at least one time indicator, wherein a sector or portion associated with the element indicates a duration or a length of the audio and/or video data, wherein time marks are displayed that are set automatically or by user interaction.
Abstract:
A communication system is prepared to be placed into service, or an in-service system is updated or re-started, by transmitting programs and data into the peripheral equipment of the communication system. So that the availability of the communication system for the connected subscribers remains assured, there is a need for accelerated loading. The loading ensues by segmenting the programs and data on the storage medium at the central station as well as by the transmission of the segments into the designated peripheral units. A synchronous connection is provided between two redundant peripheral units forming a pair and is utilized in the loading event to transfer data or programs as needed between the units of the pair.
Abstract:
Commercially available platforms with performance characteristics are linked with network systems via standardized interfaces. Such a link, however, requires major interventions in the structure of said system. The inventive method reduces the necessary steps by means of a message-based concentration on the network bandwidth or a multiple thereof and a line-based concentration on the bandwidth of one of the peripherals during communication, thereby scheduling at least one interface of the allocated control device.
Abstract:
A telecommunications system having a packet-switching communications network, and to a method for operating such a telecommunications system, wherein at least a first subscriber is connected to a packet-switching communications network, a network element of a circuit-switching communications network is connected to the packet-switching communications network using an interface unit, and a first signaling information is transmitted between the network element and the subscriber, the first signaling information corresponding to a signaling standard of a circuit-switching communications network.
Abstract:
Method for reducing bit errors in digital communication systems. Bit falsifications can occur in the throughconnection of bit streams composed of a plurality of information words in the switching networks of digital communication systems. Correcting these bit errors presents problems in practice. Given redundantly executed, respectively activated switching network halves, only the correctly through-connected information word is forwarded to the terminal subscriber after the through-connection. Whether an information word was correctly through-connected is identified after the through-connection with a combined parity bit check and a bit-by-bit comparison of information words that are through-connected in parallel.
Abstract:
In an arrangement and the corresponding method for providing data MM1, MM2, . . . MMn that is subject to a charge, particularly multimedia data, access information ZI1, ZI2, . . . Zln associated with data MM1, MM2, . . . MMn, which can be selected and is subject to a charge, is deposited in a means E before a payment process.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for securely distributing contents in a telecommunication network, where an inventory management unit (1) manages terminals (3) with at least one functional unit (4) on the basis of use rights metadata (NMD) associated with an encrypted content (VN) and a terminal actuation unit (2) actuates the terminals (3) as appropriate. In this case, the inventory management unit (1) compares the use rights metadata (NMD) with a functional unit inventory list, the terminal actuation unit (2) selectively actuating the respective terminal for a respective encrypted content if the comparison ascertains a functional unit (4) which is not enabled for the content.
Abstract:
A method and a network element for processing signaling data and for controlling connections of subscribers of a packet-switching communications network. A network element actuates a concentrator interface using at least one connecting unit and makes resources available to it. Signaling data for performing subscriber signaling of a subscriber of the packet-switching communications network is transmitted between at least one packet control unit and the connecting unit via a message control system of the network element. The packet control unit converts the signaling data of the network element into signaling packets of the packet-switching communications network and vice versa. The signaling packets are transmitted between the network element and the subscriber.
Abstract:
Bit falsifications occur in the switching networks of digital communication systems in the transmission through these switching networks of bit streams composed of a plurality of information words. By correcting these bit errors, only a correctly transmitted information word is forwarded to a destination subscriber after the transmission given redundantly executed and activated switching network halves. Whether an information word was correctly transmission is determined after the transmission with a combined parity bit check as well as bit-by-bit comparison to the information word transmission in parallel. It is assured that bit falsifications of the units (holding memories) participating in the transmission process are detected and corrected.
