摘要: In a waveguide having a given Δ, a low-loss waveguide bend is realized while the curvature radius is kept small. In an optical waveguide in which a first waveguide and a second waveguide are connected, a clothoid tapered waveguide bend is inserted between the first waveguide and the second waveguide. In the clothoid tapered waveguide bend, the waveguide width continuously changes from a first waveguide width at a connection point of the first waveguide to a second waveguide width at a connection point of the second waveguide, the curvature radius continuously changes from a first curvature radius at the connection point of the first waveguide to a second curvature radius at the connection point of the second waveguide, the first waveguide width and the second waveguide width are different from each other, and the first curvature radius and the second curvature radius are different from each other.

摘要: A photo-electron fusion switch that can perform optical communications without any trouble, even when nodes of a communication source and a communication partner that are large in transmission capacity are connected, and makes it possible to realize a concentrated arrangement of devices having similar functions and reduce the communication processing time is connected to communication source's information processing devices and communication partner's information processing devices and information processing devices that are each different in transmission speed so as to configure an optical network system. The photo-electron fusion switch includes a network processor of an electronic circuit for controlling packet switch functions, a plurality of optical transmitter/receivers that can support coherent communications and has a photoelectric conversion function capable of transmitting and receiving optical signals different in transmission speed, an optical line switching device, and a plurality of multiplexing/separators. Each multiplexing/separator simultaneously transmits and receives respective optical signals different in transmission speed to and from the nodes via optical waveguides.

摘要: The optical waveguide component of the present disclosure provides a configuration for optically connecting two optical waveguides composed of different materials with low loss. The first optical circuit including the core of a first material and a second optical circuit including a core of a second material are configured on a single substrate. The optical waveguide component of the present disclosure includes an optical connection part between two optical circuits, and has a double structure in which a core cross-sectional region of one optical waveguide is included in a core cross-sectional region of the other optical waveguide between the two optical waveguides. The optical connection part is provided with a protrusion part of the underclad extending along the first core from the high-level surface toward the low-level surface of the underclad toward, and the width of the protrusion part is gradually narrowed toward the second optical circuit.

摘要: Provided is a variable wavelength filter having a wide variable wavelength range. In the variable wavelength filter, a slab waveguide that is a component of an arrayed-waveguide grating has a groove into which a resin is inserted. The groove intersects with a plurality of line segments A joining a place of connection between an input light waveguide and the slab waveguide to places of connection between respective array waveguides and the slab waveguide. The groove is formed such that a total length LA of an intersection of the groove and each of the line segments A monotonously increases or decreases between the adjacent line segments A with a difference in the total length LA between the adjacent line segments A being constant.

摘要: Provided is an optical signal processing device that can operate simultaneously for a plurality of wavelength bands. The optical signal processing device includes a WDM coupler array including a plurality of WDM couplers for separating the C band and the L band for the respective ports; input/output port groups provided for the C band and the L band, respectively; a micro lens array; a diffraction grating; a lens; and a spatial light modulator arranged in this order. The spatial light modulator collects light at different positions for the respective wavelengths, thus allowing all wavelengths to be independently subjected to a phase modulation. Light subjected to the desired phase modulation by the spatial light modulator is reflected and is deflected to have an angle corresponding to any desired port of the input/output port group, and then is optically-coupled to an input/output port depending on the deflection angle.

摘要: Provided is an optical module capable of inhibiting both the displacement of an optical axis caused by thermal changes and property degradation in an optical functional circuit. The optical module includes: a planar lightwave circuit including a waveguide-type optical functional circuit and a waveguide region where only an optical waveguide is formed in contact with a side, wherein an emission end face where output light is emitted from the optical functional circuit, or an entrance end face where input light is entered to the optical functional circuit is formed in contact with the side; a fixing mount employed to hold the planar lightwave circuit only in the portion where the waveguide area is located; and an auxiliary mount employed to hold the planar lightwave circuit in contact with a side that is opposite the side where the emission end face or the entrance end face.
