摘要: A wavelength monitoring apparatus includes a wavelength monitoring circuit. The wavelength monitoring circuit includes: a split circuit that splits an input optical signal into two; an optical delay circuit that applies a delay time difference to the two split optical signals; and a two-input two-output optical multiplexer/demultiplexer circuit that outputs a result of applying multiplexing interference to the optical signals to which the delay time difference has been applied. The wavelength monitoring apparatus further includes photoelectric conversion elements that perform photoelectric conversions on the two optical signals output from the wavelength monitoring circuit so as to output electrical signals. The wavelength monitoring apparatus is configured to obtain the wavelength of the optical signal, by calculating a ratio between two electrical outputs of the photoelectric conversion elements and referring to a correspondence table indicating wavelengths of optical signals input to the wavelength monitoring circuit and ratios between electrical outputs.

摘要: An optical channel monitor is formed to include the capability to sense real-time changes in optical power across signal bands (optical power changes including, for example, a complete drop out of the signal band) and quickly measure the resulting spectrum, thus enabling the host to initiate advanced power balancing solutions that mitigate the extent of the power change until a permanent fix is provided. A set of signal band sensors is included with a conventional OCM, where each sensor includes a photodetector that is able to detect changes in operation along its associated incoming signal band. Control electronics are used to monitor the states of the photodetectors, with the ability to invoke an OCM scan of the complete wavelength range when a power change condition is flagged.

摘要: A device may provide a signal with a first wavelength and a second wavelength to a fiber cable, and may receive an intensity change measurement of backscattered light based on the first wavelength of the signal. The device may receive a differential phase change measurement of the backscattered light based on the second wavelength of the signal, and may determine whether there is a fiber loss change, a fiber length change, and/or a fiber cut associated with the fiber cable based on the intensity change measurement. The device may determine whether there is an abnormal event associated with the fiber cable based on the differential phase change measurement, and may report one or more of the fiber loss change, the fiber length change, the fiber cut, or the abnormal event.

摘要: The optical communication system includes the optical distribution device (100) provided between the wavelength routing device (30) and the optical multiplexing/demultiplexing device (40). The wavelength routing device outputs the optical signal input from the port on the wavelength variable subscriber device side to the port uniquely determined by a combination of the wavelength of the optical signal and the port to which the optical signal is inputted. The wavelength variable subscriber device can execute the first protection for switching the wavelength of the optical signal to be transmitted and received to the spare wavelength different from the operating wavelength when the wavelength variable subscriber device and the wavelength variable communication device (10) are disconnected. Then, the optical distribution device can execute the second protection for switching the optical fiber transmission path (50) to be used when the wavelength variable subscriber device and the wavelength variable communication device are disconnected.

摘要: A loss-based wavelength meter includes a first photodiode configured to measure power of monochromatic light; and a loss section having a monotonic wavelength dependency, wherein a wavelength of the monochromatic light is determined based on measurements of the first photodiode after the monochromatic light has gone through the loss section. This provides a compact implementation that may be used in integrated optics devices using silicon photonics as well as other embodiments.

摘要: According to examples, a wavelength identification and analysis sensor may include a wavelength transmitter, operably connectable to an input or output of a wavelength selective device of a wavelength division multiplex (WDM) network, to transmit test signals on a plurality of wavelengths into the input or output of the wavelength selective device of the WDM network. A wavelength analyzer is to detect returned signals from the input or output of the wavelength selective device of the WDM network, with each returned signal being associated with one of the transmitted test signals. Further, the wavelength analyzer is to analyze the returned signals and identify, based on the analysis of the returned signals, a wavelength associated with the input or output of the wavelength selective device of the WDM network.

摘要: In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a processor configured to receive a set of digital samples associated with a set of optical signals received at a coherent optical receiver. The set of digital samples is associated with a set of optical channels. Each optical channel from the set of optical channels is spaced from at least one adjacent optical channel from the plurality of optical channels. The processor is configured to calculate, for each optical channel from the set of optical channels, a spacing between that optical channel and at least one adjacent optical channel from the set of optical channels based on digital signal processing of the set of digital samples. The processor is configured to send a signal indicating, for each optical channel from the set of optical channels, the spacing between that optical channel and the at least one adjacent optical channel.

摘要: There is proved an optical transmission system including: a transmitter configured to transmit an optical signal modulated with a discrete multi-tone (DMT) drive signal; a filter capable of changing a wavelength of the optical signal input from the transmitter; a monitor configured to monitor a power of the optical signal passed through the filter; and at least one processor configured to: set a center wavelength of the filter, shift the center wavelength, detect a change in the power monitored by the monitor, identify a carrier component of the optical signal based on the change in the power, and control a relative relationship between a transmission characteristic of the filter and a wavelength of the carrier component so that the carrier component is included in the optical signal and one of an upper sideband and a lower sideband of the optical signal is at least partially removed by the filter.
