Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods described herein provide a method for padding a signal extension of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols. A transceiver may obtain a plurality of data symbols for transmission, and determine that a number of information bits for a last symbol of the plurality of data symbols is not an integer value. A special padding rule may be applied to add padding bits to the last symbol. A number of coded bits for the last symbol may be determined when the number of information bits for the last symbol has changed, and the plurality of data symbols for data transmission may be encoded based on the determined number of coded bits for the last symbol.

Abstract: A communication device receives a trigger frame that is configured to: trigger a contention-based uplink orthogonal frequency multiple access (OFDMA) transmission by multiple communication devices, and indicate a predetermined length of the contention-based uplink OFDMA transmission, wherein the predetermined length corresponds to contention-based uplink OFDMA transmissions. Responsive to receiving the trigger frame, the communication device generates a data unit having the predetermined length, and responsive to receiving the trigger frame, transmits the data unit as part of a contention-based uplink OFDMA transmission.

Abstract: A first communication device receives an aggregated data unit from a second communication device. The aggregated data unit aggregates (i) one or more sets of multiple data units, each set of multiple data units to be acknowledged by a respective block acknowledgement and (ii) one or more single data units, each single data unit to be acknowledged by a respective single acknowledgement. The first communication device generates a block acknowledgment frame that includes (i) block acknowledgement information to acknowledge the one or more sets of multiple data units, and (ii) single acknowledgment information to acknowledge the one or more single data units, where the block acknowledgement frame omits an indication that the block acknowledgement frame includes the single acknowledgement information. The first communication device causes the block acknowledgement frame to be transmitted to the second communication device.

Abstract: A communication device receives a first physical layer (PHY) data unit via a communication channel. The first PHY data unit corresponds to a trigger frame, and includes: a first PHY preamble having a legacy portion and a non-legacy portion, a first training field that includes a first training signal having a periodicity LP, and a second training field that includes a second training signal having the periodicity LP. The communication device generates a second PHY data unit. The second PHY data unit includes: a second PHY preamble that includes a third training field that includes a third training signal, and a fourth training field that includes a fourth training signal having a periodicity 2*LP. Generating the second PHY data unit comprises: modulating the third training field using a first tone spacing LTS between adjacent OFDM tones, and modulating the fourth training field using a second tone spacing equal to LTS/4 between adjacent OFDM tones.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are disclosed herein for aligning HE-LTFs corresponding to a plurality of users by determining a respective number of spatial streams corresponding to each user, determining a highest respective number of spatial streams of the spatial streams, and setting an alignment number of HE-LTF symbols to be equal to or larger than the highest respective number of spatial streams. For each respective user, a respective matrix of HE-LTF symbols corresponding to the respective number of spatial streams of the respective user is selected, and it is determined whether the respective matrix of HE-LTF symbols has fewer symbols than the alignment number. In response to determining that the respective matrix of HE-LTF symbols has fewer symbols than the alignment number, padding symbols may be added to the respective matrix to yield a number of HE-LTF symbols in the respective matrix that corresponds to the alignment number.

Abstract: A first communication device allocates respective frequency sub-channels for subsequent orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) communications with two or more second communication devices, including allocating a first frequency sub-channel, a second frequency sub-channel, and a third frequency sub-channel between the first frequency sub-channel and the second frequency sub-channel. The first communication device generates and transmits a first downlink OFDMA data unit configured to prompt the two or more second communication devices to transmit as part of a multi-user transmission that spans the first frequency sub-channel, the second frequency sub-channel, and the third frequency sub-channel. The first communication device receives an uplink OFDMA transmission and determines that the uplink OFDMA transmission did not include a transmission within the third frequency sub-channel. In response, the first communication device does not transmit within the third frequency sub-channel when transmitting one or more subsequent downlink OFDMA data units via the communication channel.

Abstract: Accordingly, systems and methods for managing power when the number of training and data tones are increased in a wireless communications system are provided. An L-SIG field is generated that includes a set of data and pilot tones, wherein the pilot tones are inserted between the data tones in the set of data and pilot tones. A plurality of training tones is added to the L-SIG field before and after the set of data and pilot tones. A symbol is generated that includes the L-SIG field, an L-LTF field, and a data field, wherein the training tones of the L-SIG field provide channel estimates for the data field. Power of the L-LTF field is managed relative to power of the L-SIG field in the generated symbol in a time domain.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provides a system for detecting data received in a low power low rate (LPMR) data frame format. The system includes a receiver and control circuitry. The receiver is configured to receive a data frame comprising an LPLR preamble portion and an LPLR data portion following the LPLR preamble portion. The LPLR preamble portion and the LPLR data portion occupy a bandwidth that is less than an allowed bandwidth. The control circuitry is configured to determine a mode of the data frame based on whether the data frame has an additional portion, and detect data field in the LPLR preamble portion from the data frame based on the mode of the data frame.

Abstract: A client station of a wireless local area network (WLAN) determines respective availabilities at the client station of a plurality of subchannels for a multi-user (MU) transmission, and generates a media access control (MAC) data unit (MPDU) that includes a MAC header. The MAC header includes a control field, and the control field includes a subfield having i) an identification (ID) that indicates the subfield includes subchannel availability information, and ii) a bitmap that indicates the respective availabilities at the client station of the plurality of subchannels. The client station transmits the MPDU to an access point of the WLAN for a subsequent allocation by the access point of wireless bandwidth for the MU transmission.
