    摘要: A liquid crystal display device having high quality and high reliability is manufactured by preventing the occurrence of damages on a terminal portion due to the radiation of laser beams in cutting a substrate of the display device which is formed using a plastic substrate by the radiation of laser beams. A first substrate has a cutting line at a position which faces a terminal portion of a second substrate. In cutting the first substrate along the cutting line, laser beams are radiated to the first substrate along the cutting line so as to form a groove having a predetermined depth in the first substrate. Then, a load is applied to the first substrate along the groove so as to cut the first substrate.

In a liquid crystal display device in which a first light-transmissive substrate is opposite to a second light-transmissive substrate in which plural electrodes are formed on an inner surface and a connection terminal portion to the electrodes is formed by being drawn at an end portion, and liquid crystal is sealed in an area circumferential portions of which are surrounded by a sealant, a metal film reflecting laser light is formed on the inner surface of the first light-transmissive substrate opposite to the connection terminal portion, thereby blocking the irradiation of laser light to the connection terminal portion at the time of cutting by the irradiation of laser light.

As a result, the power consumption of the display driver can be reduced.

As viewed in a plan view, the display read line is disposed between the pair of bit lines BS and {overscore (BS)}. Potentials of signals that are transmitted through the pair of bit lines BS and {overscore (BS)} are in a mutually opposite relationship. Therefore, even when coupling capacitors are formed between the pair of bit lines BS and {overscore (BS)} and the display read line, the charges that are charged and discharged between the capacitances and the display read line are offset, and therefore the signal potential on the display read line does not deteriorate.

The liquid crystal display device includes a pixel electrode and counter electrode that are formed on a liquid crystal-side surface of one transparent substrate of respective transparent substrates disposed opposing each other with a liquid crystal being laid therebetween, wherein the transmissivity of light transmitting between this pixel electrode and the counter electrode is controlled by twisting of molecules of the liquid crystal as caused by an electric field generated between the pixel electrode and counter electrode. In the liquid crystal display device, spacer materials are provided between respective ones of said transparent substrates. These spacers are fixed and disposed on an insulating layer underlying an orientation film which is in contact with said liquid crystal on the one transparent substrate side.

    摘要: In a liquid crystal display panel, the shrinkage of an end-scaling material for sticking a pair of substrates together is prevented or relaxed to restrain peeling of the end-sealing material from the substrates, thereby preventing any leakage of a liquid crystal and penetration of contaminants. A liquid crystal display device is assembled by bonding together a pair of substrates, which are opposed to each other across a predetermined gap and at least one of which has an electrode group formed over a surface opposed to the other substrate, with a sealing material along their peripheries excluding a liquid crystal filling port, and then sealing the liquid crystal filling port with an end-sealing material after the filling of the liquid crystal and hermetically sealing the liquid crystal in the gap between both substrates. In the liquid crystal display device, a resin which constitutes the end-sealing material contains particulates of average particle size of 0.1 &mgr;m to 3.5 &mgr;m by at least 1 volume % to 30 volume %, preferably, 1 volume % to 10 volume %.
