摘要: Provided are apparatus and methods of use for extracorporeally treating a patient whereby blood is withdrawn from the patient, separated into a leukocyte enriched portion which, in contact with a photoactivatable reagent, is irradiated and all blood portions being returned to the patient. The preferred apparatus is suitably modified with appropriate tubing sets, valves, pumps, centrifuge and controlling means to perform the patient treatment in three operational phases.

摘要: Authentication and verification of suitability for use of disposable elements can be made by evaluation of characteristic data stored on a non-volatile read/write memory element, especially useful in a photoactivatable agent patient treatment system wherein photoactivatable agents, in contact with patient blood cells, are irradiated extracorporeally and then returned to the patient.

摘要: A body scrubbing brush apparatus comprises a base support, a brush panel having a front brushing surface, and means for non-rotatably moving the brush panel in a small orbital path relative to the base support. Such movement may be achieved with an hydraulic drive mechanism, and the entire apparatus may be mounted to the wall of a shower bath.

摘要: A monitor and control system for water purification apparatus includes first and second conductivity cells located in the input water path and the purified product water path of the apparatus, respectively. The conductivity cells produce output signals exhibiting amplitudes representative of the impurity concentrations in the respective water paths. These signals are detected and modified by circuitry which imposes logarithmic characteristics upon the two signals. The two logarithmically variable signals are differentially combined to produce a signal for display which is representative of the percent of impurity rejection of the water purification apparatus. The detected signal are also individually combined with signals representative of the temperature of the water being processed. The temperature-corrected signals are then displayed to provide an indication of the impurity concentrations of the input and purified water paths in parts per million. Treated water which exceeds desired limits of percent impurity rejection or impurity concentration is detected to cause the generation of an alarm signal. The alarm signal indicates that the apparatus is producing treated water which does not meet the desired criteria of water purity.
