摘要: A detonation timing apparatus and method of determining a detonation time is disclosed. The detonation timing apparatus comprises an initiation sensor, at least one impact sensor, and at least one controller. The at least one controller may be configured for sensing an initiation event associated with the initiation sensor and sensing an impact event associated with the at least one impact sensor. The at least one controller is further configured for determining an impact velocity estimate proportional to a temporal difference between the initiation event and the impact event, using the impact velocity estimate to determine the detonation delay, and generating the detonation event at the detonation delay after the impact event. The timing apparatus and method of determining a detonation time may be incorporated in a fuze, which may be incorporated in an explosive projectile.

摘要: A surgical table for infants and small animals has a bed assembly that is rotatable. The bed assembly includes a stationary plate and a rotating plate with a brake that controls rotation. The bed assembly may be connected by a clamp to the frame of a conventional operating table and supported alongside or above. The bed assembly may also be permanently mounted on its own vertical support. The bed assembly may also be permanently mounted to the operating table by an articulated clamp that allows the bed assembly to be stored alongside. A central opening is present in both plates so that hoses and wires connected to the patient will pass through this opening to permit rotation of the patient with the table with no stress on the hoses or wires where they connect to the patient.

摘要: A method employing oxide film conversion coatings prepared using ferrate (VI) as the oxidizing agent is disclosed. Metal substrates or surfaces, such as aluminum, aluminum alloys or other metals, are contacted with an aqueous solution comprising ferrate (VI) anions to form a corrosion resistant conversion coating on the surface thereof. The ferrate anion concentration is preferably between about 0.0166% and about 1.66% by weight. The coating process is carried out by dipping, spraying, or painting at temperatures ranging from 25° C. to 100° C. for a period of time ranging from about 1 second to about 5 minutes.

摘要: A conversion coating solution and process forms a stable and corrosion-resistant layer on metal substrates or layers or, more preferably, on a boehmite layer or other base conversion coating. The conversion coating process involves contacting the substrate, layer or coating with an aqueous alkali metal isomolybdate solution in order to convert the surface of the substrate, layer or coating to a stable conversion coating. The aqueous alkali metal molybdates are selected from sodium molybdate (Na2MoO4), lithium molybdate (Li2MoO4), potassium molybdate (K2MoO4), or combinations thereof, with the most preferred alkali metal molybdate being sodium molybdate. The concentration of alkali metal molybdates in the solution is preferably less than 5% by weight. In addition to the alkali metal molybdates, the conversion coating solution may include alkaline metal passivators selected from lithium nitrate (LiNO3), sodium nitrate (NaNO3), ammonia nitrate (NH4NO3), and combinations thereof; lithium chloride, potassium hexafluorozirconate (K2ZrF6) or potassium hexafluorotitanate (K2TiF6).

摘要: A conversion coating process that forms a stable and corrosion-resistant oxide layer on metal or metal oxide substrates or layers. Particularly, the conversion coating process involves contacting the metal or metal oxide substrate or layer with the aqueous calcium hydroxide solutions in order to convert the surface of the substrate to a stable metal oxide layer or coating. According to the present invention, the calcium hydroxide solution is prepared by removing carbon dioxide from water or an aqueous solution before introducing the calcium hydroxide. In this manner, formation of calcium carbonate particles is avoided and the porosity of the conversion coating produced by the calcium hydroxide solution is reduced to below about 1%.

摘要: An electrified vacuum cleaner hose adapter for electrically and mechanically interconnecting an electrified vacuum cleaner hose with an electrified vacuum cleaner wand or accessory, comprises a handle portion which includes two tubular portions set at an angle to each other, an inlet member for connecting to a vacuum cleaner hose and an outlet member for connecting to the vacuum cleaner wand or accessory. Electrical connectors are provided at each end of the handle portion of the adapter for connecting with corresponding electrical conductors of the hose and wand, respectively. An electrical wire extends between the connectors. The connectors and the electrical wire are covered by a channel-shaped member which defines a closed passage in the handle portion for enclosing the electrical connectors and wire and for serving as a manually grippable protrusion on the handle portion.

摘要: A method and apparatus for use in chemical milling operations to automatically cut a maskant material, such as a thin film of plastic, which has been applied to the workpiece. The cutting device of the invention is designed for use with a computer controlled apparatus embodying a rectilinear robot adapted to move the cutting device in first, second and third directions relative to the workpiece. The pressural engagement between the cutting blade of the device and the workpiece is continuously sensed and controlled. Additionally, the angle between the cutting blade and the maskant is controllably varied as the cutting device is moved by the rectilinear robot.
