    摘要: A process for laser-welding pre-coated sheet metal plates comprises loading two pre-coated sheet metal plates at a workstation, such that edges of the plates that are to be welded together are butted against one another. Each plate has a steel substrate and a pre-coat layer, the pre-coat layer including an intermetallic alloy layer and a metallic alloy layer. In a single pass, an area of each plate adjacent to the edges that are butted against one another is irradiated with a defocussed laser beam, thereby melting material of the pre-coat layer within said area of each plate. During the single pass, a stream of a gas is used to blow the melted pre-coat material out of the irradiated areas of the two plates. Absent removing the two plates from the workstation, laser-welding the plates together is performed using a focused laser beam.

    摘要: A process is described for laser welding a sheet metal workpiece having an aluminum-silicon containing pre-coat layer disposed on at least one major surface thereof, and having first and second opposite side edges. The sheet metal workpiece is arranged such that the first and second side edges are in contact with one another and such that the at least one major surface faces outwardly. A closed tube-shaped product is obtained by forming a laser-weld joint between the first and second side edges. In particular the laser-weld joint is formed absent removing the aluminum-silicon containing layer from along the adjacent edges, such that aluminum from the aluminum-silicon containing layer enters into the melt pool that is formed. An alloying material is introduced into the melt pool during laser welding and forms a compound with at least some of the aluminum in the melt pool.

    摘要: A method of hemming a low ductile material includes providing a first sheet made from the low ductile material and providing an integrated hemming device having at least one laser head and a roll forming assembly comprising a roller. The first sheet is hemmed by moving the roll forming assembly relative to the first sheet along a hemming direction, wherein the roll forming assembly is arranged relative to the first sheet to form a bending region in front of the roll forming assembly. The at least one laser head directs laser light along two optical paths to form two irradiation spots. One of the irradiation spots irradiates a localized portion of the first sheet along the hemming direction at a substantially constant predetermined distance in front of the roll forming assembly and within the bending region, and the other of the irradiation spots irradiates a portion of the roller.

    摘要: A process is described for laser welding a sheet metal workpiece having an anti-corrosion pre-coat material on at least one major surface thereof. The sheet metal workpiece is arranged such that first and second side edges are in contact with one another and the coated major surface faces outwardly. A first laser beam having a first beam spot-size is used to form a laser weld joint between the first and second side edges. A second laser beam having a second beam spot-size larger than the first beam spot-size is then scanned along the laser weld joint and is tilted in a tilt direction parallel to the scanning direction to produce an elongated beam spot. During the scanning, a flow of a powdered anti-corrosion surface layer material is directed toward a portion of the laser weld joint that is being irradiated by the second laser beam. The second laser beam melts the material, which forms a layer adhering to the laser weld joint.

Subsequently, a localized anti-corrosion surface layer is formed on the laser weld joint. During the scanning, a flow of a powdered anti-corrosion surface layer material is directed toward a portion of the laser weld joint that is being irradiated by the laser beam. The laser beam melts the material, which subsequently solidifies to form a layer adhering to the laser weld joint.
