Abstract:
A portable communication device (200) provides a remote speaker microphone (RSM) (204) that is adaptable to a plurality of interchangeable bridge interface modules. The plurality of interchangeable bridge interface modules may comprise interchangeable camera (212), (218) and non-camera (220) bridge interface modules that couple between the RSM (204) and a power source (208). The power source (208) may also be interchangeable via a portable battery (212) or corded power module (214). The portable communication device is shoulder mountable and well suited to portable public safety applications.
Abstract:
An improved touch panel assembly (100) is provided. The touch panel assembly (100) comprises a bezel (102), a display (104), a touch panel (108), and a glass lens (110). The assembly (100) is formed to so that the touch panel (108) has a touch panel extension (112) extending beyond the glass lens (110). The touch panel extension (112) allows for a bumper (204) to edge mount to the glass lens (110) between the housing (202) and the module (100) and cover the touch panel extension (112) and sides of the assembly (100).
Abstract:
A connector (100) provides both fastener and RF interface functionality. The connector (100) is formed of a top circular disk (102) having a threaded lead (104) extending therefrom. A through-hole extends from the circular disk through the threaded lead (104). An insulator (110) extends within the through-hole from top circular disk (102) through the threaded lead (104). An electronic contact (106) within the insulator (110) extends from the top circular disk (102) through the threaded lead (104). The electronic contact (106) is exposed at one end on a top surface (108) of the top circular disk (102) and is also exposed at the through-hole of the threaded lead (104).
Abstract:
A connector (200) provides improved robustness and strength with a header (202) configured to retain and expose a plurality of receptacles (204). The exposed portion of each receptacle provides a surface mount solderable element as part of the overall connector. Another embodiment further provides a lead (208) extending from the exposed portion of the receptacle to provide an additional leaded solderable element to the connector. Thus, the connector can provide both surface mount capability and/or a combination of surface mount and lead mount capability. The exposed portions of the receptacles may be soldered flush to a board (302), thus minimizing z-height of the connector to the board and allowing for a larger sized diameter receptacle.
Abstract:
A system including a base affixed to a radio. The base includes a first base connector and a second base connector with a plurality of radial interconnectors positioned around the perimeter of the first base connector. The system includes an antenna connector including a first antenna connector and a second antenna connector with a plurality of radial interconnectors positioned around the perimeter of the first antenna connector. The first base connector is connected to the first antenna connector to form a central radio frequency (RF) coaxial connection and a first transmission line for a first antenna. The second antenna connector is connected to the second base connector to form a second transmission line and a plurality of radial connections around the perimeter of the central RF coaxial connection. The plurality of radial connections is configured to function as a signal carrier and/or an additional RF element.
Abstract:
A display (110) providing a tactile display user interface is provided. A display sub-assembly (204) with lens (104) is mounted within an internal frame (218) having a base (214). A perimeter seal (208) is mounted between the lens (104) and the internal frame (218). Mechanical switches (210) are disposed between a back surface of the display and the base (214) of the internal frame (218). The display sub-assembly (204) and lens (104) is moveable relative to the internal frame (218) resulting in actuation of a single mechanical switch in response to the display being pressed. Sealing of the lens (104) to the internal frame (218) being maintained during switch actuation.
Abstract:
A shoulder mountable communication device provides a remote speaker microphone (RSM), a camera, and a battery. The device is conformable to different user's to provide for a maximum imaging field of view and hands-free operation of the camera.
Abstract:
A portable radio (100) having a control knob (102) can further enable additional radio control functions through a rapid back and forth bi-directional rotation (202, 204, 206) of the knob (102). No additional buttons or menu features are required.
