Abstract: This method includes: a coil assembly step of combining a plurality of coil units to form a coil basket; a core insertion step of inserting inner cores of in the radial direction to the coil basket; and a fixation member insertion step of inserting a fixation member to the outer circumference of the inner core. In the core insertion step, the radial-direction position of the coil basket is retained at a core insertion time position shifted outward in the radial direction relative to a normal position after armature completion, and the inner cores are inserted in the radial direction to the coil basket. After the core insertion step, the radial-direction positions of the coil basket and the inner cores are moved inward in the radial direction to the normal position after armature completion.

Recesses are formed in surfaces opposed to each other at bent parts of the turn portions or bent parts of the turn portion and the leg portion, that extend in a bent manner toward the same side in the circumferential direction from the slot accommodation portions adjacent to each other in the radial direction.

Abstract: Winding bodies include: a first terminal wire that extends outward at a first axial end of a stator core from a radially innermost position inside slots; and a second terminal wire that extends outward at the first axial end of the stator core from a radially outermost position inside the slots, the first terminal wires are each led radially outward over coil ends of the stator winding, the second terminal wires are each led radially outward at positions that are nearer to the stator core than end portions of the first terminal wires that are led radially outward over the coil ends of the stator winding, and end portions of intraphase connecting second terminal wires are stacked in an axial direction with, placed in contact with, and connected to end portions of intraphase connecting first terminal wires that are subject to connection therewith.

The stator winding is composed of coil slots, which are inserted to the slots, and coil ends extended toward the outside in the axis direction of the stator core; and the coil conductors of the coil slots are configured in such a way that cross-sectional areas at central portions in the axis direction are wider cross-sectional areas at both end portions, and the cross-sectional areas of the coil conductors are reduced along the coil slots from the central portions to the both end portions.
