    摘要: A cable has a cable core, an inner cable sheath, an outer sheath, and a sensor. The sensor may extend along the cable for detecting a detectable substance inside the cable. In addition, the sensor may be arranged between the inner cable sheath and the outer sheath for detecting such substance outside the inner cable sheath. Furthermore, the cable may include a structured material between the inner cable sheath and the outer sheath arranged to allow any detectable substance entering between the inner cable sheath and the outer sheath to travel along the perimeter of the inner cable sheath to reach the sensor. The structured material may be configured to create at least one interstice between the inner cable sheath and the outer sheath. The at least one interstice may be configured to collect at least a portion of the detectable substance and to be intersected by the sensor. The structured material may be configured to restrict travel of the detectable substance in a longitudinal direction of the cable to a short distance.

The termination has an outer insulator body, a substantially longitudinally extended interior member having the electrical cable to be terminated, having a conductor for carrying load, an insulating material filled in a cavity between the outer insulator body and the interior member and means for accommodating volume expansions of the insulating material filled within the cavity. The cavity is created by introducing the interior member into the insulator body, filling the insulating material into the cavity and sealing the termination. A volume change compensation member having a predetermined volume to accommodate volume expansions of the insulating material within the cavity is placed into the cavity. Respective terminations are also provided.

    摘要: A water monitoring system and a water monitoring method for a high voltage cable including a conductor and a screen surrounding the conductor. At least a first water sensing wire extends in the screen between the cable beginning and the cable end and at least a second wire is connected with the first wire at the cable end to form a loop. A first switching unit is provided between the cable beginning and the measurement circuit. A control unit controls the first switching unit over a first predetermined time interval into a first switching state in which the water sensing wire and the second wire are connected to the screen potential. In a following second predetermined time interval the control unit controls the first switching unit into a second switching state in which the water sensing wire and the second wire are disconnected from the screen potential. The measurement circuit performs a water intrusion measurement in the second predetermined time interval.

    摘要: A water sensing wire for a cable. The water sensing wire has a conductor and a water permeable insulation surrounding the conductor. The conductor is formed by a plurality of metal wires. The water sensing wire may also have a plurality of filaments contained inside the water permeable insulation. Longitudinal and/or radial application of stresses cannot cause damage to the water sensing wire because damage can be avoided by the deformable cross section of the sensor conductor and by the reinforcement provided through the filaments. The water sensing wire is particularly useful in power cables but may also be used in telecommunication cables or optical fibers.
