摘要: A chuck includes a generally cylindrical body member having a forward section and a rearward section. The rearward section is configured to mate with a manual or powered driver. A plurality of angularly disposed passageways is formed in the forward section of the body and intersect an axial bore formed therein. The body defines a ledge portion about its outer circumference and a front face transverse to the longitudinal body axis. One of a plurality of jaws is slidably positioned in each passageway. A nut is rotatably mounted to the body rearward of the ledge portion so as to engage the jaws. A generally cylindrical sleeve engages the nut and includes a flexible protrusion extending axially rearward from an inner circumferential surface of the sleeve proximate the sleeve forward end. The protrusion has a tab portion disposed rearward of the ledge portion and projecting radially inward of the outer circumference of the ledge portion to prevent forward axial movement of the sleeve with respect to the body.

摘要: An infusion apparatus having a pump powered by a source of battery power and a controller that performs a plurality of processing tasks related to the pumping of liquid through a conduit. The controller is operable in a normal mode of operation utilizing a first rate of power consumption from the source of battery power. The infusion apparatus includes control means for causing the controller to operate in a first power-saving mode of operation utilizing a second rate of power consumption, the second rate of power consumption being lower than the first rate of power consumption, and the control means causes the controller to operate in a second power-saving mode of operation utilizing a third rate of power consumption, the third rate of power consumption being lower than the first rate of power consumption. The controller may operate in the first power-saving mode of operation at a first frequency, such as every second, while the controller operates in the second power-saving mode of operation at a different frequency, such as 50 times per second. In the first power-saving mode of operation, the controller may operate in an idle mode in which it does not execute any of its processing tasks but in which its internal clocks remain running. In the second power-saving mode of operation, the controller may operate in a sleep mode in which it does not execute any of its processing tasks and in which none of its internal clocks are running.

摘要: The instant invention is a positive shutoff valve for use on emergency vehicles so as to maintain air within a reservoir tank allowing immediate movement of an emergency vehicle upon start up. The shutoff valve is operated by a switch located in the operator's compartment of the emergency vehicle providing movement of a solenoid located in the shutoff valve which is biased in a normally closed position. A manual bypass lever is provided should the electric solenoid fail to operate correctly. The shutoff valve positively maintains air within the reservoir tank and is monitored by a low pressure switch and alarm sensor which will indicate low air pressure in the reservoir tank even when the vehicle is in an off position.

The system 610 has a medical device 612 disposed in a first location, an electronic processor 628 coupled to the medical device 612, a sensor 616 coupled to the processor 628, and a remote controller 646 disposed at a second location remote from the first location. The remote controller 646 has an input device to control operation of the electronic processor 628. The sensor 616 receives one or more signals which it transfers 624 to the processor 628. The signals can be derived from the patient's physiological condition and/or the environment of the patient. The processor 628 receives the signals and performs a calculation 630 of the signal. Based on the result of the calculation, the processor 628 regulates the distribution of medical treatment to the patient 618 over a period of time.

摘要: An infusion apparatus for infusing liquid into a patient over an infusion period beginning with an initial infusion and ending with a final infusion and during which infusion period all relevant infusion data is stored in a non-volatile memory to generate a complete historical record of the infusions administered during the infusion period. The infusion apparatus is provided with a housing, a pump disposed in the housing and adapted to pump liquid through a conduit, and a controller operatively coupled to the pump to cause the pump to deliver a plurality of infusions of liquid medicant during the infusion period, each of the infusions being made at a time and a flow rate. The infusion data stored in the non-volatile memory may include programmed infusion data input to the infusion pump during programming of the pump, the programmed data including data representing the infusion mode, the infusion flow rate, the volume to be infused, and the infusion start time. The infusion data may also include data representing the time at which each infusion was made during the infusion period and the flow rate at which of each infusion was made. The automatic recording of the infusion data during the programming and operation of the infusion apparatus will generate a complete historical data record, which is advantageous in that the data record can be later retrieved from the non-volatile memory and used for various purposes, including clinical purposes to aid in determining how effective a particular infusion therapy was and treatment purposes to confirm that the prescribed infusion was actually delivered to the patient.

摘要: A chuck for use with a manual or powered driver having a rotatable drive shaft includes a body and a primary gripping mechanism utilizing a three-jaw assembly actuated by a nut driven by a sleeve. The chuck includes a supplemental tightening mechanism. The supplemental tightening mechanism includes at least one L-shaped lever having a portion disposed between the nut and nose section of the body of the chuck. The nut can include a passage through which the lever passes. The lever bar will push off a hardened washer disposed against the body and thus force the nut forward to produce an enhanced gripping force on the tool through the jaws. The supplemental tightening mechanism can further include a detent to restrain relative rotation between the nut and the sleeve. The detent can include a groove formed in the nut and a resilient retaining clip held by the sleeve to selectively engage the groove.

The insert is coated and/or plated and includes a hex-shaped section and a section having a circular cylindrical outer surface. A cap includes a hex cross-section segment and a circular cylindrical cross-section segment. The hex cross-section segment of the cap slips easily over the hex section of the insert while the circular cylindrical cross-section segment has a smaller ID than the OD of the circular cylindrical insert section. The cap is formed of sheet material which is both plastically and elastically deformable. When pressed onto the insert, the cap deforms both plastically and elastically. An interference fit is formed between them by radial plastic deformation of the cap.
