    摘要: A graphical user interface for an electronic apparatus such as a mobile terminal is presented. The graphical user interface gives a user access to a multi-level structure of selectable user interface items. The graphical user interface involves, on a display of the electronic apparatus, a focused region, an unfocused region and a descriptor region. The focused region presents a first plurality of user interface items belonging to a current level in said multi-level structure. The focused region has a focus area for focusing on a desired user interface item in response to user input on an input device of the electronic apparatus. The unfocused region presents a second plurality of user interface items belonging to at least one level superior to the current level in the multi-level structure. The descriptor region presents descriptive information about a currently focused user interface item in the focus area.

    摘要: This invention relates to a method and arrangement for controlling transmission power in a mobile communications system, and to a network element. In the method according to the invention a certain target level is defined for a value representing the quality of a signal, which target level should be reached by the received signal. According to the invention this target level is advantageously limited so as to be smaller than or equal to a first predetermined limit value and/or greater than or equal to a second predetermined limit value. In accordance with the invention the quality of the signal may be measured e.g. by means of an SIR value. In the method according to the invention the quality of the received signal is checked and, based on the check, a first SIR target level is given to a comparing element (21). By means of the comparing element (21) it is ensured that the said first SIR target level falls within predetermined limits. Based on the comparison, a final SIR target level is given to a power control element (12) which produces a power control signal in order to adjust the transmission power.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for improving the reliability of a handover and call establishment in a cellular radio system which comprises at least one base station in each cell, and a group of subscriber terminal equipments which communicate with one or more base stations. The base stations measure the total interference level of signals they have received from the terminal equipments, and transmit a pilot signal with a known transmit power. The terminal equipments measure the power levels of pilot signals received from different base stations. In the system at least some transceivers comprise circuitry for estimating, by means of the pilot signals, the path loss between the terminal equipment and the base stations. To improve the reliability of the handover and call establishment, at least some transceivers in the system of the invention estimate the signal to noise ratio between the terminal equipment and the base station in the uplink transmission direction on the basis of the total interference measured at the base station, the path loss, and the terminal equipment transmit power.

    摘要: A method and a mobile station for controlling interfrequency handovers of the mobile station is provided. The target value for a quality factor of the received downlink signal is used in determining a need for an interfrequency handover. The target value of the handover control method may be equal to the target value of the downlink outer loop power control, or target value of handover control may depend on the target value of the downlink outer loop power control. As the target value of the downlink outer loop power control is updated, the target value of the handover control is typically updated, too. The same target values, or values that depend on the downlink outer loop power control target values, for example, via a known function, are used in controlling interfrequency handovers. A method according to the preferred embodiments of the invention detects this situation and preparations for an interfrequency handover are typically initiated.

    摘要: According to the proposed method, the frequency of power control commands transmitted on a power control channel is changed according to the traffic. When the traffic becomes slower in at least one direction due to a DTX state, a slower transfer rate, asymmetric data transfer or for any other reason, the frequency of power control commands is lowered. Both the base station and the personal station may lower the frequency of the commands which they send. An alternative to changing the frequency of power control commands is to change the energy of power control bits. The duration of power control bits must hereby be extended, if a standard bit error ration is desired. If the system is frequency-divided and/or time-divided and uses frequency control command of several bits, the length of the command word may be shortened in addition to or as an alternative to the change in frequency. The power control algorithm may be changed several times during a traffic connection.
