摘要: An ionographic imaging member containing a conductive layer and a uniform and continuous dielectric imaging layer free of voids, the imaging layer having a dielectric constant of from about 1.5 to about 40 and a thickness of at least about 45 micrometers, the thickness divided by the dielectric constant having a value of from about 30 to about 60 micrometers. This member may be used in an ionographic imaging process.

摘要: A seamless intermediate transfer member has a reinforcing member in an endless configuration, a filler material such as a polymer and electrical property regulating material to regulate the electrical properties such as surface and bulk resistivity, dielectric constant and charge dissipation. The seamless intermediate transfer member also has good mechanical properties. The reinforcing member can be prepared by any suitable method such as by weaving. Filler material and electrical regulating material can be applied on, around or embedded into the reinforcing member. The member can be employed in an electrostatographic imaging system with more than one toner imaging station. The member can pick up a separate image from each individual imaging station and transfer the combined image to a suitable substrate. The seamless intermediate transfer member is capable of dissipating charge between toner imaging stations, achieving good transfer efficiencies and has a non-stretch characteristic to attain good registration of a toner image.

摘要: Processes for preparing ionographic imaging member including providing a flexible, shrinkable tube containing a dielectric film forming polymer having a T.sub.g of at least about -40.degree. C., charge decay of less than about 2 nonocoulombs per cm.sup.2 per second and elastic memory, providing a cylindrical support member having an outer diameter that is less than the inner diameter of the flexible tube, applying a continuous coating on the interior of the tube or on the exterior of the cylindrical support member, the coating comprising a material selected from the group consisting of an electrically conductive material, an adhesive material and mixture thereof, shrinking the tube to bring the inner surface of the tube and the outer surface of the cylindrical support member into intimate physical contact with the continuous coating. This imaging member may be employed in an ionographic imaging process.

摘要: A thick organic ambipolar layer on a photoresponsive device is simultaneously capable of charge generation and charge transport. In particular, the organic photoresponsive layer contains an electron transport material such as a fluorenylidene malonitrile derivative and a hole transport material such as a dihydroxy tetraphenyl benzadine containing polymer. These may be complexed to provide photoresponsivity, and/or a photoresponsive pigment or dye may also be included.

摘要: An imaging apparatus comprises an imaging member, a means for generating an electrostatic latent image on the imaging member, a means for developing the latent image, an intermediate transfer element having a charge relaxation time from about 3.times.10.sup.-1 seconds to about 2.times.10.sup.2 seconds to which the developed image can be transferred from the imaging member, and a means for transferring the developed image from the intermediate transfer element to a substrate. Also disclosed is an imaging process which comprises generating an electrostatic latent image on an imaging member, developing the latent image, transferring the developed image to an intermediate transfer element having a change relaxation time from about 3.times.10.sup.-1 seconds to about 2.times.10.sup.2 seconds, which enables the transfer with very high transfer efficiency of the developed image from the intermediate transfer element to substrate.

摘要: A process is disclosed for forming at least one thin substantially uniform fluid coating comprising polymeric film forming material on a cylindrical mandrel, solidifying the fluid coating to form a uniform solid coating and separating the uniform solid coating from the mandrel. The process may comprise forming at least one thin substantially uniform fluid coating comprising polymeric film forming material around a cylindrical mandrel, the mandrel having a larger mass or lower thermal conductivity than the polymeric film forming material and a critical surface tension greater than the surface tension of the fluid coating, solidifying the fluid coating to form at least one thin substantially uniform solid coating comprising the polymeric film forming material around the cylindrical mandrel, heating both the uniform solid coating and the mandrel to a temperature at least above the apparent T.sub.g of the solid coating to expand the coating and the mandrel while maintaining contact between the coating and the mandrel, cooling the coating to below the apparent T.sub.g of the solid coating prior to substantial cooling of the mandrel, and cooling the mandrel whereby the mandrel contracts at a greater rate than the polymeric coating until separation occurs between the mandrel and the coating, and removing the coating from the mandrel.
