Abstract: A building cooling system includes one or more cooling devices operable to affect an indoor air temperature of a building and a system management circuit. The system management circuit is configured to obtain an objective function that includes a power consumption term and a comfort term, perform an optimization of the objective function over a time horizon to determine values of the cooling capacity of the cooling devices where each value of the cooling capacity corresponds to a time step of the time horizon, and control the cooling devices based on the values of the cooling capacity of the cooling devices. The comfort term of the objective function a difference between a prediction of the indoor air temperature of the building and a temperature setpoint for the building, while the power consumption term is a function of the power consumption of the one or more cooling devices.

Abstract: A building management system (BMS) includes sensors that measure time series values of building variables and a deterministic model generator that uses historical values for the time series of building variables to train a deterministic model that predicts deterministic values for the time series. The BMS includes a stochastic model generator that uses differences between actual values for the time series and the predicted deterministic values to train a stochastic model that predicts a stochastic value for the time series. The BMS includes a forecast adjuster that adjusts the predicted deterministic values using the predicted stochastic value to generate an adjusted forecast for the time series. The BMS includes a demand response optimizer that uses the adjusted forecast to generate an optimal set of control actions for building equipment of the BMS. The building equipment operate to affect the building variables.

Abstract: A controller for maintaining occupant comfort in a space of a building. The controller includes processors and non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by the processors, cause the processors to perform operations. The operations include obtaining building data and obtaining occupant comfort data. The operations include generating an occupant comfort model relating the building data to a level of occupant comfort within the space based on the building data and the occupant comfort data. The operations include generating time-varying comfort constraint for an environmental condition of the space using the occupant comfort model and include performing a cost optimization of a cost function of operating building equipment over a time duration to determine a setpoint for the building equipment. The operations include operating the building equipment based on the setpoint to affect the variable state or condition of the space.

Abstract: A building control system includes one or more controllers configured to obtain comfort feedback provided by one or more occupants of a building in response to exposing the one or more occupants to a first set of environmental conditions of the building. The one or more controllers are also configured to generate, based on the comfort feedback, one or more thresholds defining a range of values for an environmental condition of the building within which the one or more occupants are predicted to be comfortable, execute a predictive control process subject to one or more constraints based on the one or more thresholds to generate setpoints for building equipment, and operate the building equipment to drive the environmental condition of the building toward the setpoints.

Abstract: A control system includes building equipment configured to consume electrical energy and generate thermal energy, electrical energy storage configured to store and discharge electrical energy, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine, for a plurality of time steps within a time horizon, an amount of electrical energy to store in the electrical energy storage or discharge from the electrical energy storage using a value function. The value function includes an expected revenue from participating in an incentive-based demand response (IBDR) program, an expected cost of participating in the IBDR program, and a penalty cost based on an amount by which a predicted output of the building equipment or the electrical energy storage changes between time steps within the time horizon. The controller is configured to control the electrical energy storage to store or discharge the amount of electrical energy determined using the value function.

Abstract: A method for automatically commissioning and operating an HVAC system to serve energy loads of a building site is shown. The method includes querying site information describing the building site to identify physical equipment and relationships between the physical equipment. The method further includes constructing an asset allocator model, the asset allocator model indicating connections between the physical equipment and resources produced or consumed by the physical equipment. The method further includes generating a mapping between points of the physical equipment at the building site and corresponding variables of the asset allocator model. The method further includes using the asset allocator model to generate values of one or more control variables of the asset allocator model. The method further includes adjusting an operation of the physical equipment by triggering software elements to automatically push updated values of the control variables to corresponding points of the physical equipment.

Abstract: A system controlling equipment to serve energy loads of a building includes a cost function generator configured to obtain a cost function of decision variables representing an amount of resources consumed or produced by the equipment, an optimizer configured to perform a first optimization of the cost function subject to a first set of constraints defining first values of constraint variables to generate a first result defining first values of decision variables, a constraint modifier configured determine a cost gradient, recommend changes to constraint variables, and modify constraint variables to modified values in response to changes. The optimizer is configured to perform an optimization of the cost function subject to a second set of constraints to generate a second optimization result defining second values of the decision variables. The system includes a controller that operates equipment to consume or produce resources defined by second values of the decision variables.

Abstract: An energy optimization system for a building includes a processing circuit configured to generate a user interface including an indication of one or more economic load demand response (energy) operation parameters, one or more first participation hours, and a first load reduction amount for each of the one or more first participation hours.
