摘要:
Systems and methods for detecting a security tag. The methods comprise: detecting motion of the security tag while in use to protect an article from unauthorized removal from a protected area; and emitting a first waveform from a radiating device of the security tag in response to the motion's detection. The first waveform is detectable by an Electronic Article Surveillance (“EAS”) monitoring system. The radiating device comprises a device other than an EAS element, a Radio Frequency Identification (“RFID”) device and a Near Field Communication (“NFC”) enabled device.

Systems and methods for operating a security tag. The methods involve: establishing an electrical connection between the security tag and an external Power Removal Station (“PRS”); performing operations by the security tag to authenticate a detach command sent from the external PRS; allowing power to be supplied from the external PRS to an electro-mechanical component of the security tag when the detach command is authenticated; and actuating the electro-mechanical component so that a pin of the security tag transitions from an engaged position to an unengaged position without any human assistance or mechanical assistance by a device external to the security tag.

A gimballed camera (34) is attached to a moving body (20) so that it can remain pointed at a desired target (28) as the body (20) moves. A gyroscope (38) is attached to the camera (34) so that it may move independently from the camera (34), so that the gyroscope (38) continuously points in one direction while the camera (34) moves relative to the gyroscope (38). Measurement devices determine the positions of the moving body (20) and gyroscope (38) relative to the camera (34). The sum of these measures yields the position of the target relative to the gyroscope (38), which translates to a command to point the gyroscope (38) at the target. The camera (34) is then moved independently to a specified alignment relative to the gyroscope (38).

Systems and methods for responding to an Electronic Article Surveillance (“EAS”) alarm's issuance. The methods involve: receiving, by a mobile device, a short range communication signal from a fixed device located in proximity to EAS equipment issuing the EAS alarm; automatically transitioning an operational mode of the mobile device from a first operational mode in which alarm response functions are disabled to a second operational mode in which alarm response functions are enabled, in response to the short range communication signal's reception; receiving, by the mobile device, a user input for inputting a reason code specifying a reason for the EAS alarm's issuance; and communicating the reason code from the mobile device to an external device for causing a deactivation of the EAS alarm's issuance.

Systems (100) and methods (200) for security tag detachment or deactivation authorization. The methods involve: communicating at least one first product code for each article of a plurality of purchased articles from a Point-Of-Sale (“POS”) to a remote authorization system; generating by the remote authorization system an authorization code to facilitate authorization of detachment or deactivation of security tags attached only to said plurality of purchased articles, in response to the first product code; using the authorization code to obtain a list of articles identifying first articles of the plurality of purchased articles which have security tags attached thereto; and authorizing the detachment or deactivation of only the security tags that are attached to the articles identified in the list of articles.

A system and method for managing the power consumption of power-consuming devices. A remote device manager transmits power save schedules to a local device manager over a communication network such as the internet. The local device manager transmits power save commands to one or more devices in a location such as a store, over a dedicated local communication network. The commands instruct one or more devices to activate or de-activate its power save mode according to the power save schedules. The commands could be dependent upon one or more trigger events.
