The modular system may also include a second assembly that may also have a duct, inlet piping, and outlet piping coupled via a bracket in a second positional relationship, where the inlet piping and outlet piping are also disposed exterior to the duct. The first positional relationship of the first assembly and the second positional relationship of the second assembly may provide alignment between the respective ducts, inlet piping, and outlet piping to facilitate coupling of the first and second assemblies.

The ionizer has a cation and anion generator connectable to a power source and utilizes needle point bipolar ionization to generate anions at a first set of electrodes and cations at a second set of electrodes. The electrodes are located on a first and second side of an air flow separator. The air flow separator is divided into a first air flow path way and a second airflow pathway which are at least partially separated from each other by a divider extending at least partially along the airflow separator. Discharged air through separated passages has a first air stream ionized substantially by cations and a second air stream ionized substantially with anions.

A zone control unit includes a return air section that receives return air from serviced building zones and mixes the return air with a supply of outside air. The mixed air is heated and/or cooled by the zone control unit and discharged to serviced building zones in a controlled manner. An exhaust air system is used to extract air from serviced building zones. The HVAC zone control unit also includes a local control unit with an Internet protocol address. The local control unit includes a memory and a processor for storing and executing a control program for the zone control unit. The control program controls of the zone control unit in response to commands received via the Internet.
