    摘要: A digital image projector includes an illumination-light source lamp and illumination beam forming optics for forming a white-spectrum illumination beam and color-band-separation optics to divide the illumination beam into color-component subbeams. The digital image projector also includes a reflective digital-image-encoding polarization modulator mechanism such as a reflective liquid crystal display polarization modulator to reflectively modulate the linearly polarized subbeams to form color-component image encoded-polarization subbeams and projection lens optics for projecting a color image divided from the image encoded-polarization subbeams. The digital image projector further includes a plate-supported, surface mounted fixed polarization-axis polarizing beamsplitter such as a wire-grid polarizing beamsplitter for dividing the color image from the image-encoded-polarization subbeams in which a polarizer support plate of the polarizing beamsplitter faces an illumination-source side of the optical system of the projector.

    摘要: Display systems useful for projection video and television systems are provided to perform with high efficiency and good color rendition. In these systems, color may be provided, as one example, by various light valves, such as liquid crystal displays. Each of the liquid crystal displays are positioned at equal path distances from an illuminating subsystem, and have equal path distances from the light valves to a projection subsystem. This enables optimum illumination of each of the light valves. Various embodiments of arranging the light valves, as well as providing illumination are described.

    摘要: A system and method for motion compensation of color sequential displays, receiving a motion image data input, extracting an estimate of a motion of an image portion represented in said image data input with a motion estimator, and calculating, for a time instance of display of each image subframe of an image frame, a compensated representation for reducing display artifacts with a processor, wherein each subframe represents a different aspect of the image frame. The subframes are preferably different color planes of the image frame. The processor preferably performs a bilinear interpolation where the compensated image boundary does not fall on a display pixel boundary. The motion compensation algorithm is preferably robust in the face of erroneous motion vectors. The system and method is advantageously used in single panel liquid crystal display projection systems, although the techniques are applicable to various image display technologies.
