    Abstract: The display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer placed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate and the second substrate have a display area and a frame area around the display area. The frame area has a seal material placed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The second substrate has: a second resin substrate; in the display area, a first multilayer layer placed on a side of the second resin substrate facing the liquid crystal layer, the first multilayer layer including a first inorganic insulating film, a light shielding member, and an overcoat film; and in the frame area, a second multilayer layer placed on the side of the second resin substrate facing the liquid crystal layer, the second multilayer layer including the light shielding member and the overcoat film.
