    摘要: A method and apparatus for receiving an IP-based message, by a first UE over a WLAN, is provided. The method may comprise transmitting at least one IP-based registration message and transmitting capability information including at least a terminal type of the first UE. The first UE may receive from a second UE, the IP-based message formatted according to the capability information. The first UE may be addressed using a first MSISDN. In one embodiment, the capability information indicates a memory size of the first UE. In one embodiment, the capability information indicates support for the first UE to receive an animation.

Authentication may be performed between the WTRU and a cellular core network node of a cellular core network, via the base station. The method may further comprise transmitting a registration request to the cellular core network via SIP over an IMS and transmitting a SIP message indicating a capability of the WTRU to receive data messages via the IMS. The WTRU may receive, in accordance with the capability of the WTRU to receive data messages via the IMS, at least one data message, from the base station, via the IMS. The data message may be displayed on a display of the WTRU.

    摘要: A method and system for supporting an evolved universal mobile telecommunication systems (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) are disclosed. The system includes a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), a UTRAN and an E-UTRAN. The UTRAN sends to the WTRU a list of available radio access technologies in a coverage area of the UTRAN. The list includes information related to the E-UTRAN. The WTRU receives the list and may initiate a handoff based on the list. The WTRU then sends its multi-mode/multi-RAT capability information including the E-UTRAN capability to the UTRAN. The UTRAN then sends a measurement capability message to the WTRU. The measurement capability message includes parameters necessary for performing measurements on an E-UTRAN channel. The WTRU performs measurements based on the measurement capability message and reports measurement results to the UTRAN. The UTRAN may initiate a handoff to the E-UTRAN based on the measurement results.
