Abstract:
A method for producing cross-sectional images using an ultrasonic imaging unit operating on the pulse-echo principle, which unit includes a transducer system having a stationary elongated array of adjacent transducer elements with transverse electrode segments adjacent one another on one side of the array. Successively and cyclically selected groups of adjacent elements are energized to produce an ultrasonic beam as a result of pulsed signals being applied to the corresponding electrode segments. Focussing of the ultrasonic beam produced by each group of the transducers is effected by having the transmitter signals applied to the electrode segments or subgroups thereof, and/or the echo-signals derived by the electrode segments from the reflected energy, time shifted relative to one another, in which each transmitter or echo-signal has a time shift associated thereto which is a function of the distance between the corresponding electrode segments (or subgroups of segments) and the center of the group of transducers.
Abstract:
Process and holding component for repair of a nuclear reactor fuel assembly spacer support. The holding component is formed from a metal strip, on the free ends of which are introduced elastic projections. After removal of the damaged crosspiece, a holding component partly embracing the fuel rod is locked into a slot of a spacer support by means of its projections.
Abstract:
Defoamer compositions contain a carrier oil and at least one particulate filler of less than 40°, measured with water as a surrounding phase. The defoamers are surprisingly more active than prior art defoamers.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a planing device mounted on machines for processing ice. The inventive device is used in the area of the ice surface located close to the barrier and comprises a blade which is mounted with the carrier thereof on the lateral wall of the planing side that is provided on the machine. The planing device rests with an edge on the ice surface. The invention is characterized in that the blade can be moved from a lifted non-operating position into the working position by means of a driving mechanism.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of hydrocarbon-rich gels as a safe storage or transportation form for liquid hydrocarbons and to a process for the safe storage and safe transportion of liquid hydrocarbons, characterised in thata) the hydrocarbon is converted into a hydrocarbon-rich gel by addition of a surfactant and water andb) after storage or transportation has taken place, the hydrocarbon-rich gel is broken down again.

Abstract:
If the blade of the chamfer plane of ice preparation equipment is set to a lower depth than the carriage runner, the latter follows the cutting surface of the chamfer plane. The latter then planes to a lower depth as the carriage runner is its reference base. The carriage runner follows the blade of the ice preparation equipment and the planing action of the entire plane is unintentionally deep on one side. Said problem is effectively prevented by a small supporting runner that is located in the interior of the plane carriage, adjacent to the cutting surface of the chamfer plane. Said runner can be adjusted and is usually set to lie level with the carriage runner. If the blade of the chamfer plane is inadvertently set to a depth that is too low, the carriage is held secure by the supporting runner in conjunction with the right-hand carriage runner and the left-hand runner does not follow the cutting surface of the chamfer plane. The latter thus produces a cleanly planed strip with a uniform depth.
Abstract:
The concentrate contains an ammonium compound which carries a longer-chain and a medium-chain substituent on the nitrogen atom, and both the other substituents are either hydrogen atoms, methyl, ethyl or .beta.-hydroxyethyl. The medium-chain substituent should have half the carbon atoms of the longer-chain substituent or one or two carbon atoms less than half. Instead of an ammonium compound, a mixture of several ammonium compounds can also be present which on average corresponds to the formula described above. In addition to water, the concentrate can also contain 0 to 10% by weight, relative to the total amount of the ammonium compounds, of one or more compounds which are selected from amongst alkali metal salts, ammonium salts, aliphatic amines, alkyl or alkenyl esters or olefins having 6 to 20 carbon atoms. The concentrates have a low viscosity, which makes them easily pumpable, transportable and meterable. They can be diluted without noticeable increase in viscosity and contain virtually no combustible solvents.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic echo sounding technique for reducing unwanted echoes from reflectors outside the focal line of a focused ultrasonic field is disclosed. In this technique at least two pulse-defined ultrasonic waves are successively transmitted. The amplitudes of the said waves are functions of an angle .phi. which is generated about the axis of the source of ultrasound. Echoes from the reflected waves are received from reflectors both on and outside the focal line and multiplied by an amplitude factor which is a function of the above mentioned angle .phi.. Echo signals associated with echoes having the same transit time are then added together.
