Abstract:
The present application provides a waste water preconditioning system for limiting mercury concentrations in a waste water stream resulting from treatment of a flue gas. The waste water preconditioning system may include a wet flue gas desulfurization system for treating the flue gas with an aqueous alkaline slurry, a sulfite detector to determine the concentration of sulfite in the aqueous alkaline slurry, and to produce the waste water stream with a mercury concentration of less than about five micrograms per liter. The waste water preconditioning system also may include a waste water treatment system downstream of the wet flue gas desulfurization system.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for control and adjustment of the feed rate of mercury reemission control additives (MECA) to a wet flue gas desulfurization system. Predetermined sulfite concentration values are compared to actual sulfite concentrations measured in the scrubber liquid. The MECA feed to the recirculating scrubber liquor is then adjusted and regulated as a result of such comparisons.

Abstract:
Methods and compositions are disclosed for inhibiting corrosion on metal surfaces of gas turbine air compressors. The methods comprise contacting the metal surfaces with a corrosion inhibiting composition comprising at least one filming amine.
Abstract:
Dual action amines provide corrosion protection from corrosion and fouling for a steam generator system and distillation tower of a petroleum or petrochemical refinery. These amines are chosen to provide protection for the steam condensate section of the boiler while simultaneously minimizing amine salt fouling and corrosion problems in the crude distillation tower and overhead condensing system of crude distillation units. The distribution ratio of the dual action amine should be about 4.0 or less, the amine pKa should be in the range of about 7.0 to about 11.0, and the amine HCl salt volatility index should be about 2.5 or less.
