Abstract: A steam generating system includes a nozzle assembly for pulverized coal and air, the coal nozzle assembly comprises an inner housing (3) for conveying primary air and coal and an outer housing (5) for conveying secondary air to an exit face (13) of a nozzle tip (1), wherein the outer housing (3) and the inner housing (5) are arranged coaxially and limit a channel (15) for the secondary air, wherein the cross-sectional area (AIH) of the inner housing (3) increases towards the exit face (13) of the nozzle tip (1), wherein the cross-sectional area (AOH) of the outer housing (5) decreases towards the exit face (13), and wherein bars (11) are located in the inner housing (3) near the exit face (13) that accelerate the velocity of the primary air and coal particles.

Abstract: A system and method of controlling corrosion of a heat exchanger, having a hot gas inlet and outlet and a cold side inlet and outlet. The method includes determining a temperature of the heat exchanger at a first selected location, controlling a temperature of a corrosion sensing device to a first selected temperature based on the temperature of the surface of the heat exchanger and determining a corrosion rate associated with the heat exchanger surface at the first selected location for the first selected temperature. The method also includes comparing the corrosion rate to an expected corrosion rate, determining a cold side fluid inlet temperature target for the heat exchanger based at least in part on the comparing, the determined corrosion; and controlling a cold side fluid inlet temperature based at least in part on the determined inlet temperature target, determined corrosion rate, and expected corrosion rate.

Abstract: An apparatus removes acidic gases from a gas stream. The apparatus remove acid gas from a gas stream in a manner that generates a product gas stream at a higher temperature while consuming less energy than the existing technology. The apparatus enables the positive gas temperature differential to be maintained by manipulating the absorber column operating conditions and/or the solvent chemistry to increase the amount of absorption and reaction in the absorber.
