Abstract: A catalyst system may include a catalyst and a first sensor that detects contents of gases entering the catalyst and reports the contents of the gases entering the catalyst to an emissions control module. A second sensor and a third sensor may detect contents of gases exiting the catalyst and report the contents of the gases exiting the catalyst to the emissions control module. The emissions control module may determine an air-fuel ratio based on the contents of gases entering the catalyst and the contents of gases exiting the catalyst. The emissions control module may instruct an air-fuel regulator to operate an engine using the air-fuel ratio.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system includes an engine control system configured to control an engine. The engine control system comprises a processor configured to receive a vibration signal sensed by a knock sensor disposed in an engine. The processor is further configured to correlate the vibration signal with a fingerprint having at least an ADSR envelope indicative of the operating event of a valve train of the combustion engine, analyze the vibration signal with a statistical valve train model, or a combination thereof. The processor is also configured to detect if the operating event has occurred based on correlating of the noise signal with the fingerprint, based on analyzing the vibration signal with a statistical valve train model, or a combination thereof, and to control the valve train based on the operating event.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide variable valve timing (VVT) mechanisms. A VVT mechanism according to the disclosure can include: a lever having a first end, a second end, and a fulcrum positioned therebetween; a length-adjustable push rod coupled to the first end of the lever and including an actuator therein; a rod valve coupled to the second end of the lever, the rod valve being configured to open and close an intake valve of an engine system based on a movement of the lever; and an engine control unit (ECU) operatively connected to the actuator of the length-adjustable push rod, wherein the ECU adjusts a length of the length-adjustable push rod based on an operating condition of the engine system. In addition or alternatively, the ECU can control an amount of cushioning fluid for the valves to affect the rate at which the intake valve opens or closes.
