    Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new apparatus such as a halogen incandescent lamp is presented herein, the apparatus comprising a light source such as a light-generating element made of tungsten, configured to generate a visible light such as white light having chromaticity coordinates of the light source in a clear center in a color space, and a component such as light-transmissive envelope, enclosing the light source and comprising a coating with a compound comprising elements of neodymium and fluorine and configured to provide a desired light spectrum by filtering the generated visible light using the compound, where the desired light spectrum having chromaticity coordinates in the color space being shifted from the clear center below the black-body locus and outside of a four-step MacAdam ellipse of the light source to meet a predefined requirement for a modified spectrum lamp.

    Abstract: A directional lamp assembly includes a light source, a reflector having a first portion and a second portion and operative to direct light emitted from the light source to a target area, a heat sink circumscribing the reflector and operative to dissipate heat produced by the light source and a light diffusing lens disposed over the light source and operative to transmit light to the target area. The second portion of the reflector is disposed radially outboard of the first portion and is integrally formed in combination with the heat sink.

    Abstract: Provided is a method including determining a first incident angle at which light from a light source will impinge on a first thin-film reflective stack of a planned first reflector for a lighting system. The method also includes determining a second incident angle at which light from the light source will impinge on a second thin-film reflective stack of a planned second reflector for the lighting system. The method further includes designing, using a processor executing a software package, the first reflector, comprising tuning a reflective characteristic of the first thin-film reflective stack as a function of the first incident angle determined, and designing, using the processor executing the software package, the second reflector, comprising tuning a reflective characteristic of the second thin-film reflective stack as a function of the second incident angle determined.
