    摘要: An omni-directional antenna includes an electrically conductive ground plane, an electrically conductive parasitic disc spaced upwardly apart from the ground plane and parallel thereto, and an electrically conductive vertical antenna element extending up through the center of the ground plane and parasitic disc, The vertical element terminates in a tip defining a length above the parasitic disc that is matched to a frequency of interest. The parasitic disc and ground plane are preferably both circular. To prevent electrical connection, the vertical element preferably extends through separate insulators in the parasitic disc and ground plane. The length of the vertical element is matched to a microwave frequency; in particular, the length of the vertical element is proportioned to one-quarter wavelength of the frequency of interest. The invention is particularly suited to microwave frequencies.

    摘要: A thin layer or layers of electrically conductive material applied to the exterior surface of the enclosure exploits the skin effect for antenna implementations. Using an additive manufacturing process of the type wherein layers of material are consolidated without melting the material in bulk, at least the electrical interconnection may be completely embedded within the wall of the enclosure. Indeed, the transmitter, receiver, or transceiver and the electrical interconnection may also be completely embedded within the enclosure or the wall thereof. A pair of antennas may be provided to function as a dipole, for example. Alternatively, a plurality of antennas arranged to facilitate frequency tuning, beam steering, or other parameters. The antenna and enclosure are preferably fabricated from materials having different dielectric constants, including different metals. As examples, the enclosure may be fabricated from aluminum or stainless steel, while the antenna layer(s) may be fabricated from copper, gold, silver or other highly conductive materials. Antennas according to the invention may be used at microwave frequencies, including those used for wireless networking.

    摘要: There is provided a quartz glass article having a surface treated with novel coating materials which provides a reduced chemistry, wherein the quartz glass surface having a reduced chemistry upon exposure to melted silicon or similarly corrosive environments, forms crystalline structures covering at least 75% of the coated surface of the quartz glass crucible. Said crystalline covered surface provides a more stable surface of contact with the silicon melt and the growth of single crystal silicon. In one embodiment of the invention, the coating material comprises at least a methyl group for providing at least one of a hydrogenated and a methylated surface on the coated surface, forming rosette structures, or other crystalline morphologies covering at last 80% of the coated surface. In another embodiment of the invention, the coating material is selected from at least one of an amine, an organosilane halogen and mixtures thereof.
