A method for dosing a liquid using a pipette with adjustable dosing step size and an indicating equipment and a syringe that can be operated using the pipette, wherein the syringe is detachably connected to the pipette, at option, the dosing step size is set, or the dosing step size set before is maintained, the dosing volume adjusted via the dosing step size is indicated by means of the indicating equipment, the maximum number of dosing steps possible without refilling the syringe, with the set dosing step size and completely filled syringe is indicated by means of the indicating equipment, liquid is aspirated into the syringe, a reverse stroke is performed after the syringe is filled with liquid, dosing steps are performed, the performed dosing steps are counted and the number of performed dosing steps and/or the number of dosing steps still possible without refilling the syringe is determined and indicated by means of the indicating equipment, after performing the maximum number of dosing steps possible without refilling the syringe, either the syringe is detached from the pipette, or the previous steps are performed anew by means of the same syringe, wherein in the dosing step, the overall performed number of dosing steps with the syringe with the set dosing step size is counted, and/or the number of dosing steps still possible without refilling the syringe is determined and indicated by means of the indicating equipment.

A pipette with an adjustable volume comprises a housing comprising an outside surface, at least one seat defining an opening, and a displacement apparatus defining a displacement chamber comprising a displacement element configured to be displaced therein. A stroke rod is coupled to the displacement element and configured to be displaced relative to the housing order to displace the displacement element. An adjusting apparatus is configured to adjust a position of an upper stop in the housing, a display apparatus is configured to display a set dosing volume, and a coupling apparatus is positioned between the adjusting apparatus and the display apparatus. The coupling apparatus is configured to couple the adjusting apparatus to the display apparatus in an engaged state and configured to uncouple the adjusting apparatus from the display apparatus in a disengaged state.

The invention relates to a pipetting apparatus, for pipetting a fluid sample in accordance with at least one mode of operation of the pipetting apparatus, which is controlled by an operating parameter set, which is associated with a corresponding mode of operation, wherein the electric control device of the pipetting apparatus is designed to automatically store the at least one parameter value set determined by the user to be the at least one historic parameter value set for this mode of operation in the memory device, and is designed to provide, after the operating parameter set for this mode of operation has changed, the at least one automatically stored historic parameter value set for this mode of operation again for the subsequent control of the at least one, same, pipetting process. The invention also relates to a method for operating the pipetting apparatus.

A pipette with an adjustable dosing volume comprises a housing connected to at least one seat configured to releasably hold a pipette tip. A displacement device is positioned within the housing and configured to aspirate and discharge liquid from the pipette tip. A stroke rod is coupled to the displacement element and configured to be longitudinally displaced relative to the housing to displace the displacement device. A catch sleeve is rotatably mounted within the housing and is connected to the stroke rod. An adjusting sleeve configured to engage a transducer shaft that is rotatably mounted within the housing and comprises a countershaft of a gearbox that is configured to be shifted between different shift stages. Each shift stage comprises different gear ratios between a rotational speed of the adjusting sleeve and a rotational speed of the catch sleeve. The different gear ratios enable coarse volume adjustment and fine volume adjustment.

An electronic laboratory metering system for liquids includes an electrical hand-held metering device (2) having at least one operation sensor unit (5) that detects operation of the hand-held metering device (2) and generates operating data and stores same in a storage apparatus (6), wherein the hand-held metering device (2) has an interface module (7) for connecting the hand-held metering device (2) to an external network access apparatus (4) for transferring the operating data; the metering system (1), specifically a data processing system (3), has a comparison unit (9) to compare operating data with target operating data and/or to compare context parameter data from the context parameter sensor unit (8) with target context parameter data and to generate a comparison result. The metering system (1) includes a documentation unit (10) designed to generate and store log data records including at least the operating data and/or the context parameter data. The documentation unit (10) is connected to the comparison unit (9) to transmit the comparison results from the comparison unit (9) to the documentation unit (10) and the documentation unit (10) stores the comparison results as part of the log data records to be assigned to the relevant operating data and/or context parameter data, to add to same after operation of the hand-held metering device (2) has ended.
