摘要: A parking brake actuator system for an outdoor power equipment unit, such as a riding lawn mower, comprises a reversible electric motor that drives a gear reduction assembly. The gear reduction assembly rotates an output shaft at a speed slower than the speed of rotation of the motor. The output shaft has opposite ends that are linked by a pair of actuating rods to a pair of parking brakes. As the motor is rotated in reverse rotary directions, the connecting portions of the rods that are coupled to the parking brakes are moved in opposite, straight line directions to move the parking brakes between brake disengaged and brake engaged positions.

摘要: An electrically powered actuator system is provided for engaging and disengaging the parking brake system of an outdoor power equipment unit, such as a riding lawn mower. The actuator system includes a solenoid that is coupled to the parking brake(s) of the unit by one or more link arms. When the solenoid is deenergized and the armature of the solenoid is extended, the link arms rotate the parking brake(s) into their engaged positions. When the solenoid is energized and the armature of the solenoid is drawn inwardly into the solenoid housing, the link arms rotate the parking brake(s) into their disengaged positions. The solenoid is energized and deenergized by a control system responsive to various switches that detect various operational conditions of the unit, such as the presence of the operator in the seat of the unit and/or the placement of the unit's twin stick propulsion and steering controls in their inboard positions.

摘要: A control system for a riding turf mower. The control system incorporates an interlock system capable of controlling the cutting operation of the mower when traveling in a reverse direction. In a preferred embodiment the present invention includes a riding lawn mower having a prime mover, a transmission for transmitting power from the prime mover to a driving wheel to propel the mower in forward and rearward modes, a cutting deck with a rotating cutting blade wherein the cutting blade has a first condition where the blade rotates and a second condition where the blade is stopped, and an interlock system having an override switch wherein the cutting blade will not rotate when the mower is rearwardly propelled unless the override switch is activated subsequent to a first change in conditions from the first condition to the second condition and wherein a second change in conditions from the first condition to the second condition deactivates the override switch preventing rotation of the cutting blade when the mower is rearwardly propelled until the override switch is again activated.

摘要: Mower drive system interlocks and methods of interlocking mower drive systems with non-contact sensors are disclosed. The mowers may include two driven ground engaging means for supporting the mower above the ground; two drive systems for driving the driven ground engaging means, one of the drive systems driving each of the driven ground engaging means independently of the other drive system and its driven ground engaging means, wherein each of the drive systems has a neutral condition in which its driven ground engaging means is not being driven by the drive system; a drive system interlock operatively connected to an engine of the mower; and two non-contact sensors operatively connected to the drive system interlock, the sensors providing a signal to the drive system interlock when both of the drive systems are in the neutral condition. The methods of interlocking a mower may include steps of providing a mower having a drive system interlock operatively connected to an engine, two drive systems, and two driven ground engaging means for supporting the mower above the ground that are independently driven by each of the drive systems, the drive systems each having a neutral condition in which their respective driven ground engaging means are not being driven; sensing when both of the drive systems are in the neutral condition with a non-contact sensor; and providing a signal to the drive system interlock of the riding mower when the non-contact sensor senses that both of the drive systems are in the neutral condition.
